So we have a Micra spec racing (cheap disposable piece of shyte) You can’t change the engine but you can modify but no turbo and has to have a certain minimum weight.

Some of my best automotive deals were scored this way.

If I had the time and energy I can piece that car apart for $10K easy.

A quick story.

About 15 years ago I saw an ad for a classic Mini Cooper in San Diego. About 100 miles from me.

Owner was asking $2,500 and it was sitting at a mechanic yard. An Audi mechanics yards who knew nothing about Minis.

Owner was given an ultimatum to come and get the car or they’ll start charging storage fees and owner was leaving for deployment.

He changed the ad to $500 to the first person that can get to the car.

Even with a trailer I made the drive in about an hour

So yes, owner are not always stupid but the definition of opportunity is the right time at the right place.

Well running examples of this car are under $10,000 do why would anyone spend $50K to repair this one?

By the way I sold the Mini for $11,000 plus a ride on mower.

Sometimes the best things in life are staring at us but we fail to make the connection.

And you have a legit reason because that’s a near $80K car new.

The way I approach this thing is I’ll never pay labor to a shop so it’ll only be parts and I’ll set a budget at the beginning. Budget thats cast in stone. Once we reach that budget and it’s not making a vroom vroom sound then it becomes a parts car.

It’s not for the faint of heart for sure but the result could be great.

It will make sense if you intend to use it in Nigeria because labour if very cheap there. Eg. A Nigeria mechanic can do engine swap for less than N40k for labour. But if na to drive this for Yankee, your mechanics would love you.
