THE Lekki Concession Company has opened a new operation office that will serve users of the Lekki-Ikoyi Link Bridge, just as it expresses interest in managing the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway currently under reconstruction.

The 1.346km Lekki-Ikoyi Link Bridge was constructed by the Lagos State Government to reduce traffic congestion around Eti-Osa, Lekki, Epe and Ikoyi environs.

It is being managed by the LCC along with the Admiralty Circle Toll Plaza that also links the Lekki-Epe Expressway.

The Managing Director of the company, Mr. Mubashir Hassan, who declared the new office open at a mini-ceremony in Lagos, said it was meant to save cost, easy their operation as well as serve motorists using the link bridge toll plaza better.

Before now, the LCC management was operating from a rented apartment around the link bridge toll plaza, where it was reportedly paying about N9m.

Apart from providing an easy access for motorists to buy e-tags or electronic tickets and e-tag top-up that could enable them to use the fast lane at the toll plaza, Hassan said the new operational base had an information desk for enquiries on the activities of the LCC.

“This beautiful edifice will be preserved as much as possible. We’ll make sure that the place is well maintained,” he stated.

Hassan also affirmed that the security on routes under the management of the LCC had been very tight, adding, “You can hardly hear of robbery cases on all our roads because we have dedicated policemen patrolling the area day and night. Motorists plying our roads know that as soon as they enter the area, they are secure within the environment.”

The LCC MD said the company had zero tolerance for potholes and recalled when recently some people complained about a portion around the Abraham Adesanya area, the company had to quickly move in and the place was fixed in less than 24 hours.

He urged motorists using the road to always abide by the rules of the company and drive with utmost care in order to ensure a smooth journey with maximum safety.

He also urged the people to take advantage of the e-tag, which he noted as providing a faster and easier passage for motorists using either the Ikoyi link bridge toll plaza or the Admiralty Circle toll plaza.

On the desire of the LCC to manage the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway after the ongoing reconstruction work, he said, “If we do well with the Lekki road, it is possible for the Federal Government to consider us to take care of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway. Anytime they are ready and we are contacted, we’ll be glad to do it.”
