Chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, NURTW in Birnin Gwari, Kaduna State, Malam Audu kano and six others have been abducted by unknown gunmen.

The chairman and six members of his executive committee were on their way to Zamfara for a wedding when the incident happened.



A resident of Birnin Gwaro who prefers not to be named said the seven officials had left Birnin gwari at about 2:00 pm on Thursday and were almost at the border town with Zamfara when they were stopped by some armed men.



He said those travelling from Zamfara to Birnin Gwari were the ones that brought the news that the NURTW officials who were all travelling in two vehicles had been abducted.



“But up till now they have not called and we do not know where they have taken them to,” he said.



Our correspondent also learnt that a day to that, two women and a man were abducted n their houses at Ungwan Laya, a rural community in Birnin Gwari.
