Health workers in the federal system deserve all we demand.

Who are they please? And why not direct your fight to them and spare Nigerian masses from strikes.

Their 5th demand is highly ridiculous. How will adding 5 years to their retirement age improve the health sector. At that age, they will just be warming chair day I. Day out and be collecting money they don’t deserve.
Since JOHESU comprises of all health workers except Doctors. Please tell me what a 63 years old health assistant can do on the ward or what a 64years old Generator Technician will be doing in the Gen house?

I think the only reasonable demand is the 3rd one.
And all the noise about skipping, that is to the advantage of only the senior staff.

Maybe you should start with what a 65years old Radiologist or physiotherapist or a pharmacist would contribute to the health sector

The elephant in the room is that Government funds far too many hospitals...and is running out of money to fund them adequately, and pay decent salaries.

As far as I am concerend, the only solution to the strikes issue is to raise hospital fees...ie patients pay more for care. Because, govt runs far too many hospitals, and the health budget is inadequate.(in my opinion, we need N3 trillion or more to fund the whole thing adequately on a yearly basis.).

Or we take another loan from the IMF and World Bank.

Good riddance. The government should just make sure they leave the keys to the labs, pharmacy and stores. Once that is done, no one will even notice their absence. The pathologist will do a better job than the lab scientist, the radiologist will takeover the radiographer, 300 level medical students can take over nurses and anyone that can read can dispense drugs, even 100lvl medical students can be posted to d pharmacy to b supervised by a more senior medical student, at least to get a feel of the hospital environment.

Useless people. They should understanf that there is no shortcut in life, if u want to earn and be treated like doctors, then take the next jamb form. Rubbish.

No the problem is the Nigeria Medical Association not respecting themselves and other professionals in the health sector so that there will be mutual partnership in administering effective health care services.
They are the one working underground with the health ministry to fight Johesu interest.
Even the labour minister is their colleague.

Those guys should be ashamed of themselves. Read some time ago that doctors in Canada protest against underpayment of other health professionals. Ours here protest against decent pay for others. Just imagine the irony.

Another medical student, you can easily spot them. Your Resident doctors and consultants know how the strike cripple their work. It is only students like you that think you can run the hospital on your own. Radiologist that 50% don't know How to operate an X-ray machine let alone a CT scan. Let the pathologist come and section tissues with microtome in histo lab if he won't cut his hand with blade or prepare Cyto slides of paper smear when they don't even know the procedure for general H&E staining. Better go read your anatomy before you fail MB

My point exactly. Why should they be asking for a blanket demand. Separate those you think will have something to contribute based on years of experience from those whose efficacy reduces with years.
Alas, they won’t do this because they need them to swell their numbers.
Decentralise JOHESU and let everyone fight for what they really deserve. Don’t let the minority hijack the association. Example of that is the agitation for a non Doctor becoming the CMD. We all know that only the minority stand to gain from this.

Same proverbial anology you often used when ever health workers go on strike. Abegi, make we hear word. I vividly remember the last time doctors went on strike, and the health minister directed those nysc doctors to take your places. What was your Oga at the top reaction to that statement. please, let's call a spade a spade, All of u guys are all health workers, stop the discrimination, An injury to one is an injury to all, no Matter your discipline, Everyone can't be a doctor or nurses, we are all destined to be a profession either skilled or unskilled. Anyone is free to fight for there right no matter how people perceived your profession to be or not. It's about your life and passion.

You even have time to reply to those demented Huck that will soon flood here with the adverbatorial phrase of diminishing health workers cos they are all pained. I remember the last strike those doctors went for as a result of there selfish attitude and jealousy for the other health workers. later they will be wailing that 200l will do the work, Awon ode gbogbo.

At the end of the day, both NMA and JOHESU are looking for better salaries...and improved terms of service...and that can only come with MORE money.

Which can only come from increased hospital bills.(because we need oil to be at $140 per barrel before we can say yes, we are earning enough money).

NMA goes on strike...the response is the same. Promises that don't get kept.
