Many may think this subject matter is absolute nonsense and a big waste of time but the fact remains thesame. However, some view the bible as "A biblical references to family lines, virginity and fear of God were relevant cultural concepts in biblical times, but they have little relevance in the Twenty-first century." while many holds the opinion that "The bible was outdated even before it was printed for the first time." Do you agree? You might disagree with such sweeping dismissals of the bible but still wonder if everything in the bible is relevant. After all, the bibles used in most churches are divided into what are commonly called The Old Testament and The New Testament, giving the impression that over 75 percent of the bible is old and outdated. No one still offers the animal sacrifice prescribed in the mosaic law. So what's the point preserving all those details regarding sacrifices in the book of Leviticus? What about the opening chapter of 1 chronicles, which consist almost entirely of genealogical list? If no one alive today can trace his or her lineage directly to anyone mentioned in those chapters, what good are such list? It goes on and on but do you see the holy book as old, outdated and irrelevant?

It very relevant. The Old Testaments might seem outdated. But the old saying goes "Study the past if you would define the future" It the most accurate "history book"

though the bible has been shown to include SOME historical content it is not accurate. some of the stories in the bible have been shown to be similar to things recorded by the Egyptians and through geological records though the dates tend to be off (the plagues didn't occur over a matter of days rather over several centuries according to other records of the time) or are exaggerated. one last thing to remember is that religions world over have a common action of taking some form of hallucinogen before speaking to "god", there is no reason to believe that the judeo-christians didn't do the same as the other 4,000+ religions did.

Read it well and imagine all happening around you and then, come back and ask

@poster, the Bible is definitely outdated but irrelevant, No.

As with all tomes of knowledge there is very little home truths and plenty of fantasy and embellishments to satisfy the illiterate minds of the masses, asides that there are some important things to be learned from the Bible. my favorite being that the heart of man is the seat of evil. grin some clear home truths need to be extracted from the Bible and the rest mythical junk expunged for good

It is outdated because 21st century methods of reasoning makes it impossible for a person of average intelligence not to notice that either mathew's or luke's data is wrong as they traced jesus's lineage to david. How many generations from jesus to david?who's wrong?matthew or luke or both ?

it is still relevant because today i still apply the morals i learned from the stories of "how the tortoise back has cracks" that i heard when i was a kid.

The bible contains certain truths but not all truths and because of this, limits its readers in terms of explaining what is happening in the world right now. Most things we see today is not in the bible. We should be inform that this book was written when the world richest man was a capenter you can imagine the level of thinking and reasoning then. Tis a good book to read for those at infancy looking for God's love. Today's World leaves The Bible behind.
