Kaduna State government has dismissed 4,562 newly-recruited teachers a few weeks after they were issued with employment letters to replace those sacked for failing a competency test.

The state Commissioner for Education, Alhaji Ja’afaru Sani, who stated this at a briefing yesterday, explained that the newly-recruited teachers were sacked because they found their ways into the service of state government through dubious means.

The state government had sacked 22,000 teachers that failed competency test based on questions meant for primary four pupils and announced that it will replace them with competent teachers, based on a competitive recruitment exercise.

Sacked, again

However, at the end of the exercise, some of the teachers could not correctly write acceptance letters, forcing the state government, according to the Commissioner, to organise another screening for all the newly-recruited teachers.

Sani said: “At the end, 4,562 incompetent ones, believed to have found their way into the final list illegally, were fished out, leaving 11,335 competent ones.

“The 11,335 newly-recruited teachers, predominantly degree holders, including a few with Master’s degrees, have already been deployed to over 4,000 primary schools.

“This was after they had undergone vigorous induction training, along with the remaining old teachers, to equip them with modern teaching techniques and effective classroom management.

“We are hoping that between now and next month ending, we will be concluding the recruitment process of the balance of 13,665 teachers.”

Smart teaching tools

The commissioner added that “we want to equip our students with the information and communication technology skills to enable them compete favourably in the current technology-driven world.”

The commissioner said to achieve technology-based teaching, the state was distributing tablet computers to teachers and students, as well as installing smart boards in schools.

Sani noted that the state Universal Basic Education Board, SUBEB, had concluded the recruitment of 11,335 teachers out of the 25,000 vacancy it earlier advertised; about 40,000 applicants sat for the recruitment examination, out of which 27,639 were invited for oral interview.

He added that 15,897 of the applicants were successful, but subjected to further screening to fish out those allegedly smuggled into the list.

Sani added that the applications for the remaining balance of 13,665 are already being received, adding that the process will commence once approval is granted by Governor Nasir el-Rufai.

How are the teachers going to cater for their families

I understand why they were sacked but what other alternatives do they have?

One of the sectors that need serious sanitisation is our education sector starting from primary school. Wouldn't blame the kaduna state govt if indeed they're found wanting.

el rufia should open up and say he has no money for teachers salary. Or he wants to use money meant for education sector to recontest election in 2019. Or he his of the opinion that western education is haram, since such incident cannot be separated from the region.

*ALL IS VANITY AND NEVER ATTEMPT TO HAVE IT ALL

As soon as a plane lands at the airport, there is another plane taking off from that airport, and others lined up to take off too. They all leave to different destinations and even back to the airport you departed.

This is the way life is; When you think you have "arrived" you find others are taking off.... Some to where you are coming from and others to other activities.

You may have been a house wife for lack of a job, as soon as you land your dream job, you find someone resigning to become a house wife or for greener pastures......You may be basking in all the wealth but have serious deficiencies in health....

There are people crying day and night for lack of children and yet others are crying day and night BECAUSE of their children. I have met people depressed for not being married and have met others depressed for being married . There are people who are sick and tired for lack of a job while others are sick and tired OF their jobs...

I have seen parents very worried on how their kids will perform in exams while others are worried on how to take those who have performed well to good schools.

This is life...we will never have it all and its like chasing the wind ...Instead of always being in a marathon trying to get it all, its important to take frequent pauses and reflect. *Learn to be content in every situation. Enjoy what you have and where you are. Generate a thanksgiving heart and trust God to move you from one level to another.*

Copied.

*Be grateful for whom you are!*

1. When El-Rufai strategically selected some despicably answered exam papers to the world he knew he would push people's buttons.

2. He knew what he wanted to achieve by manipulating Public Sentiments and sympathy.
http://www.informationng.com/2018/02/el-rufai-increases-teachers-salary-32-5-percent-salary-increase-teachers.html

3. The same man illegally terminated the engagement of thousands of teachers (remember he only showed you a small handful of despicably answered scripts). So while clearly some were NOT MEANT to be abywhere near a classroom, due process (El-Rufai and Oby if being sincere know all about this) was not followed.

4. The same man confessed recently that the fresh exams they conducted were compromised as they could not guarantee that the exams were written by the actual teachers.
https://www.thecable.ng/el-rufai-new-teachers-recruited-not-write-acceptance-letter

5. Now the same man is sacking those he freshly recruited.

https://guardian.ng/news/12-000-sacked-kaduna-teachers-have-reapplied-says-el-rufai/

When will Nigerians wake up to these People's shenanigans?

When will Nigerians overcome political manipulation?
