Of course there can be mates from non Muslim northern folks but I strongly doubt it u can see a responsible Hausa mates reasons are these
1. Most Hausa people are Muslims and can hardly go a day without observing their 5 daily prayers and again the non dedicated ones will never want themselves to be tagged as non praying Muslims. I've never seen any housemate observing any prayer.
