Africa has about 23 billionaires according to Forbes, these 23 billionaires has a combined net worth of about $75.4bn.

According to Forbes, African billionaire list is on the increase as we now have 23 billionaires from the continent against 21 of 2017, among the list are 9 men and one woman.

At Naijatoptens we have written a list of 10 richest people in Africa in 2018.

#1. Aliko Dangote

Aliko Dangote from Nigeria is the richest man in Africa with the net worth of $13.3bn, he founded and chairs Dangote Cement, Africa’s largest cement producer.

He owns nearly 88% of Dangote Cement and also own stakes in salt, sugar and flour manufacturing companies.

#2. Nicky Oppenheimer

Nicky Oppenheimer, age 72, is a south African business man who made his wealth from Diamond.

He sold his 40% stake in diamond firm DeBeers to mining group Anglo American for $5.1 billion in cash in 2012 and also owns about 1% of Anglo American, a company which his father founded.

His estimated net worth is $7.7bn.

#3. Johann Rupert & family

Johann Rupert is the chairman of Compagnie Financiere Richemont, a swiss luxury good firm.

He made his fortune from luxury goods, and also own stakes in investment companies.

Johann is from South-Africa and has a net worth of $7.2bn.

#4. Nassef Sawiris

Nassef Sawiris is from Egypt’s wealthiest family. His father Onsi and brother Naguib are also billionaires.

He controls OCI, one of the world’s largest nitrogen fertilizer producers, with plants in Texas and Iowa, America.

He also own stakes in in cement giant Lafarge Holcim and Adidas, he has a net worth of $6.8bn.

#5. Mike Adenuga

Adenuga who got an MBA at Pace University in New York, supporting himself as a student by working as a taxi driver is the second richest man in Nigeria.

He owns the second largest telecom company in Nigeria, Globacom and also an oil company Conoil.

Mike has a net worth of $5.3bn.

#6. Issad Rebrab & family

Issad Rebrad an Algerian owns Cevital which operates one of the largest sugar refineries in the world, with the capacity to produce 2 million tons a year.

He has a net worth of $4.1bn.

#7. Naguib Sawiris

Naguib Sawiris is also from the Egypt’s wealthiest family, he made from fortune from Orascom Telecom Media & Technology (OTMT), which in 2011 was sold to Russian telecom firm VimpelCom in a multi-billion dollar stock and cash transaction.

He also owns 20% stake each in two mining companies and has a net worth of about $4bn.

#8. Koos Bekker

Bekker is the former C.E.O of south African company Naspers and currently the chairman of the company.

During his time as CEO, which began in 1997, Bekker oversaw a rise in the market capitalization of Naspers from about $600 million to $45 billion.

He currently has a net worth of $2.8bn.

#9. Isabel dos Santos

Isabel dos santos, the only woman on the list is a billionaire and daughter of the former president of Angola, Jose Eduardo dos Santos, who stepped down in fall 2017.

She owns stake is several companies in Angola and also in Portuguese companies, including telecom and cable TV firm Nos SGPS.

She has a net worth of $2.7bn.

#10. Mohamed Mansour

Mohamed Mansour oversees family conglomerate Mansour Group, which was founded by his father Loutfy and is also one of General motors biggest distributors in the world.

He was once the minister of transportation in Egypt and also has a net worth of $2.7bn.
