Hi guys, dietfitelt blog is here again with another spicy article.
This time it is about food.
Do you love abacha (african salad) and will love to make it yourself, then this article is for you, so read on.

HOW TO MAKE A DELICIOUS ABACHA(AFRICAN SALAD)

Abacha is a delicious meal which comes with loads of nutrients in it.
Abacha is usually being consumed more at the eastern part of nigeria.
Some say abacha can serve as a snack not knowing abacha is a full meal.
It can be served at home or at an event.
Abacha is processed from cassava and goes through more process to get it in it’s lean form which is now used to prepare the african salad.
Abacha when fully prepared has other nutrutional varieties in it.
Everyone have there own way of preparing abacha to taste good,so let’s go straight to the different nutrients you can get from consuming abacha and how to prepare it.

Nuritents you can get from eating a fully prepared abacha are;

Carbohydrates
Protein
Fats (heathy fats)
Vitamin A&c
Potassium
phosphorus
magnesium
iron
vitamins
calcium
manganese
copper.

I will explain a bit about the nutrients listed above and that will be at the end of this aticle,so read on to know.

Ingredients for preparing the abacha.

Will be measuring some of the ingredients here in a small cup.

5-7 cups of abacha.
1 cup of ugba

Half cooking spoon of crayfish

I cooking spoon of akidi.

1 stock cube (maggi or knoor)

Half cup of palm oil or 8-10cl.

Salt and pepper.

1 Powdered edible potash(if not powered,put in a plate,add a little water to dissolve)
1 bulb Onion.

Garden egg(2) &leaves.

Fried fish or dry meat.

How to prepare the abacha

If you will make use of akidi,then cook it before the preparation likewise the fried fish or dry meat.
Soak the abacha in a pot or bowl with water for it to dissolve,when soft strain out the water and put aside.
Add 1 cooking spoon of akidi to the pot.
Add half cooking spoon of cray fish to the pot
Add 1 cup of ugba to the pot.
Add the powdered/liquid edible potash to the pot.
Slice the onion into the pot.
Cut the garden egg and leaves into small pieces and add into the pot.
Add the stock cube together with salt and pepper for taste.
Add the palm oil to the pot and turn everything in it with the cooking spoon till the abacha turns yellow.
Then taste it to know how good it taste.
Get your plate and serve yourself with the freshly made abacha and add the fried fish if you’re a fan of fried fish or add the dry meat.
Now you have a whooping delicious freshly made abacha in just 20 minutes.
Your can enjoy this meal with a local chilled drink nkwocha known as palmwine.
Now am going to let you know the nutritional values of some of the ingredients in this meal.

Abacha-

Abacha is low in carbohydrates which won’t make you gain weight or unnecessary fat.

Akidi-

Akidi looks like beans but it is smaller to beans and is very high in protein which is good for your body.

Ugba-

Ugba is known as the african bean oil which contains a lot of nutrients in it.
It’s high in protein,a great source of energy(carbohydrates (,phosphorus, magnesium, iron, vitamins, calcium, manganese and copper.

Garden egg& leaves-

Are good for the body as they come with different nutrients such as, vitamins B6 and foliate, calcium, iron, magnesium fiber and many other
essential vitamins and minerals.These are vegetables which are good for the blood in our system.

Fish and meat-

They are also high in protein and are good for growth.
