Anybody who doesn't realize or know that Nigeria with the existing structure will never ever work is either myopic or a slowpoke or just being selfish. This country needs urgent restructuring in a radical way, or being divided for the people to be at peace. Who doesn't know at least by now that our problem is not about who occupied Asorock, but rather with the existing system. Nigeria has fundamental problem. Think people

but...

don't you ever forget that very important english proverb we learnt at primary school which says that "too many cooks spoil the broth!"

Soludo was making sense not until he said "six years single term for presidency" like wtf! Buhari is yet to complete 4yrs and we are already fed up from the beginning, making it six years is more like sending Nigerians to hell.

Corruption will be fully inaugurated by having 6 vice president.
We have looters than leaders. Make politics unattractive to looters.

LordKO:
Too much talk; he simply but indirectly advocated for confederacy based on zone as presently constituted in the country, with a single tenure for the head (president) and his administrative zonal heads (vice presidents or whatever other name one may wish to call them).

Well, the problem with such arrangement is that it'll indirectly weaken the power of the president and it'll make disintegration of the country or any form of conspiracy against the president/country easily achievable.. I'm not going to state here how it can be used to perfect evil.

Why not?

Let's learn.

But Nigeria is not working.

We need to do something differently for this country to work.

Doing the same thing and expecting different results is simply madness.
Nigeria is not working because of our too many corrupt leaders who don't even have embarassed they can start by scrapping out some positions that are not necessary not by empowering more wicked corrupt old men

The issue with Nigeria Democracy is not Tenure of any office. It is what is done with the Tenure that matters. Why 5 Vice Presidents? What has the present 1 person -vice president done? Carrying out the commands of the president? What value do they add to quality governance?

What is happening to Nigeria as a country, culminate from the way the a typical Nigeria behaves. Selfishness. A selfish person can never be fair in anything he does. When a particular region person is in office, every sub office is occupied by people from that region. Others will be waiting when it get to their turn to undo what the previous leader has done.

Finally, a man can never live life above his mental capability. No matter how hard he tries unless there is a change in his level of mental ability. If not, how does one explain that in this era of the world, we are still battling with provision of basic amenities like stable electricity, water, schools, health centres, roads, railways etc. When are we going embrace industrialization that represents everything ? The same issue of level of mental ability accounts for why almost every Nigerian in any exalted office has foreign countries as their primary countries. When they need medical attention, they go there. Their family members school there. Live there. Security is abandoned since they have other countries that secured as their primary countries. Anyway, there is an adage that say - ' A farmer that defacates at the end of his uncleared farm land, will definitely have the faeces waiting for him to park'. The earlier we all realize that we have no other country than Nigeria, the better for us all.

If you like let us have 774 vice presidents, if the power at the hands of the president is 2 much, those 774 VPs are like local government chairmen. Reduce the power at the centre, let states control their economy to a very large extent and let them give the central government a percentage. We need to start having state compete against each other economically...let ideas and those who can make it happen run these states and secondly we can adopt the chinese style of migration where you just cant wake up one morning and travel from sokoto to Lagos....bro you need a visa.

Personally I think the problem is not the structure, but the people. The same structure that everyone is clamouring for to be changed, is working well all over the world.
Name a country in the world that practice the same system of govt as obtainable in Nigeria.

These are the type of people that buhari has muscled and relegated to the shadows. Nigeria's present leadership is devoid of any form of intelligent progressive thinking. It is rather filled with hate, propaganda, witchhunting, tribalism and so many other horrible vices not a single positive thing for the country. God won't forgive us if we make this same mistake in the coming elections.

IPOB is not in a position to dictate to the Nigeria state on any matter. When it comes to matters that border on the Igbo interest, Ohaneze is the only group authorized to speak on your behalf. We don't recognise any miscreants grin

You misunderstand me. During the gej regime. Intelligent voices where heard from every corner of the country, mostly suggesting how to better the economy. The general temperament of the country was such that it was about growth there was insignificant progress because the goverment was crippled by widespread corruption. A national conference was even held to chart the way forward.
This buhari government is very different. It is very tribalistic, there is so much bloodshed , the country has never been this divided along ethnic lines. Opposition are harassed and imprisoned. There is high level corruption by close friends and aids of the president We have regressed. Not even an insignificant progress.

Makes no sense and to think he is an intellectual. What about a region like the south south where there are over 40 ethnic groups? What are the chances of an Ibibio individual compared to Ijaw/Benin/Kalabari/Atam? Why did he not say each ethnic group should provide a vice president? And to think he studied abroad, one begins to wonder, what did he learn?, Apparently, he learnt nothing!

Shut up your mouth young man, wtf are you yapping about?

In the current system, don't these tribes have to battle it out for LGA and governorship elections?

At every level of government , ethnic groups always have to choose just one leader and they don't resort to violence, except for some parts of this country where everything is a do or die affair.

That man is a 1st class graduate and professor of economics you know, who are You?

Its a good idea, but not really necessary... enforcing true federalism would actually solve alot of problems.
Re: Soludo: Nigeria Needs 5 Vice Presidents & A Six-year Single Term For Presidents by DreamersVille24(m): 11:22pm On May 21, 2018
Dear people,

What Soludo is proposing is simply a kind of regional government where the VPs will oversee their regions, and I'm almost certain he just rebranded the true federal system of government we used to run before the July 1966 coup.

If you cannot make your points without insults, kindly let me know.

His suggestion doesn't make any sense. Why not ten vice presidents? Why stop at five? The costs of running such government will be overly expensive. The more I attempt to think about it, the more it comes across as ridiculous.

At the coloured: It's the more reason I'm disappointed. The individuals I know who have a first will not think about such a suggestion.
