But when you collect allocations from Abuja, do you know that those Betnaija and Nairabet people pay tax which you use to feed your people?

Someone should please drag these people back to school.

Gambling is a vice, it is addictive, it ruins and enslaves lives; even the Bible does not support it - not everyone is irresponsible enough to embrace such immorality.

My dear, the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria is supreme and supercedes any mushroom law be it Sharia or Islamic. We are still a conventional country and not a religious country. Why don't they impose sharia on everyone in their state?

bet9ja and mmm are alike: it makes the organisers to be richer while making any community that patronising it to be poorer. Gamble is associated with depression and frustration leading to criminal activities in any society that patronise it.

I laugh when all these black African slaves talk like this. Foreign religions foisted and forced on our ancestors by Arabs and the west: both killed, maimed and slaughtered our ancestors I to submission. The Arabs castrated black and also enslaved and sold our forefathers and brought Islam.
The west killed, maimed and enslaved us too and gave is Christianity. How come we are now more pious and dedicated than they are at these religions at our own detriment?

Can I not buy alcohol in England, UAE and Saudi Arabia? Do the hotels in these countries not have hotels not have casinos? Why are Africans so stupid?

We sit down in our mentally enslaved minds and look at everything through the eyes of religion. So what if the Bible is against it? Is this a Christian country? Even if Islam is against it is this an Islamic State?

For those who have forgotten, Nigeria is a secular or at worst, a multi religious country and it's laws and constitution reflect this.

I read where someone in this thread even asked if the governor said gambling was against Islam. Is that not a foolish statement? He clearly said gambling was a vice. So I ask on what has the governor premised his position if not religious belief? The North is where it is today because of the blind following of religion.

Those companies should take him to court or request that the taxes should be reduced to reflect the reduced access to business.

They should just restructure this country so that you live the way you want and bare full consequences of your actions

Oga gambling when properly regulated and organised can be a vehicle for development. Please google the UK lottery to see how many things it funds - education, movie industry, healthcare and many more.

Gambling is a past time designed for adults only. They are aware of the odds and take decisions to gamble as adults. It's a choice and adults have the right to make their choices.

Meanwhile, can this your ultra holy governor ban the most Exploitative vice in Nigeria, especially the North - corruption by the highly religious elite. If and when he can ban it let him come back to me with his self righteousness... Psheewwww

Only in the north the so called drug take effect on their youths because they don't want to go to school.Education is a crime for their poor ones but the rich among them send their children to the best schools outside Nigeria.

The man and his likes made them impoverished in the first place through their religious manipulation and corruption.

I have lived in Kaduna, Minna and Abuja. The average northerner is innocent of the crimes of their leaders. They are the biggest victims of the evil actions and manipulations of the northern elite who continue to use religion and intentional under exposure to keep the masses enslaved

If the government has the belief that such activities is detrimental to the welfare of its people the State represnetives have a right to place a ban on gambling if it's within their constitutional purview. That's the question if such an action is legal rather than the moral code behind the decision.

How can you argue that the abuse of betting and drugs benefits the poor. The fact remains both south and north betnaija and Betfair have a net negative impact on the lives of the poor. Many people are suffering in poverty because of this.
These companies make money of the loss of millions of Nigerians 100 naira at a time.

But they share from taxes accrued from betting companies. Something is wrong is wrong with these people, same way they benefit from taxes realized from sales of alcohol down South but they destroy these goods in their domain.

How much tax is nairabet and betnaija contributing to the economy. It is next to nil I can bet. Do they pay tax on transactions etc or is it a corporate tax or tax on gain ?

Betting is destroying Nigerian youths and further empoverishing the masses and people are here talking of federalism.

I do agree there is need to examine if state House of representatives has a right to ban betting. But the regulators are not doing well enough , even in last Vegas betting is regulated

i surport the move by the governor 10000%.

Sport betting and gambling will ruin the life of so many young people.

Yes it brings money for the government in terms of taxes, but i will not surport it.

It was just this year that the US courts allowed states to legalize it.
