As strange as this post sounds this will achieve instant result if implemented. It's nice to see people thinking outside the box. Ideas like these may end up helping us resolve a lot of issues in Nigeria.

This post is sooooo funny!
As long as they can tuck in their shirts and wear undershirt necklaces, all the suggestions will make no dent on the "roger" tradition.
Re: Nigerian Police Uniforms Should Be Without Pockets? by jamace(m): 3:08pm On May 30, 2010
grin  grin  grin While I'm seconding this proposition, I will  also suggest that our disHonourables (senators and House of Rep members) attend their sessions in tight jeans and T-shirt because it's like the agbada is aiding and abetting looting of our money.  Abi, how una see this my suggestion?  grin  grin
Re: Nigerian Police Uniforms Should Be Without Pockets? by Katsumoto: 3:09pm On May 30, 2010
Given that Nigerian police are known to violate their uniform by sometimes wearing accessories that do not go with their uniforms such as slippers, wrong belts, etc do not be surprised if they start wearing waist packs or carrying rucksacks. Or the commanding officer (the one who usually sits alone under a shade) holds the back and the boys just pass the money to him after collecting from motorists. Collecting money is the difficult part, storing it should be easy for rogues and corrupt officers.  grin

@ Afam, you right sir, all Nigerians have roles to play to make Nigeria a better place.
@ jamace, your suggestion is noted. Aside that, what is the way forward?
@ deor03, yes it is. Thank you.
@ snowdrops, thanks for the complements it will be a dream come through for Nigeria to appointing people like us.

There is a photo I will love to post here but I wouldn’t want this serious topic look or sound like a joke. Some time I kept wondering if our police force pass the due process to be recruited. They collect money from a driver who is already drunk and allow him to drive and kill him self and other road users. You are allow to driver without license provided you have N20 to N100. now the latest one is, you don’t even need to drive or own a car befor you will be bill, is call STOP AND SEARCH, police will stop and search you, if money is found in you above N2000.00 Naira, it means you are in trouble. And if foreign congruency is found in you then you are automatically fraudster. The new one I heard about aa week ago now is that, they are collecting N20 from Beggars in Kano. What is the problem with the police force? They can shut and kill any body anytime any where, is either they label you arm robber or they claim is accidental discharge
Re: Nigerian Police Uniforms Should Be Without Pockets? by desgiezd(m): 7:40pm On May 30, 2010
While this proposition is very brilliant, the Nigeria Police has since moved beyond this level. Presently at Ketu, they operate with a cashier or collector standing somewhere close bye. This collector always appears like an area boy and he is the one that collects money from the drivers/conductors while all the policemen at the check point are always clean even when emergency checks are carried out on them.
Re: Nigerian Police Uniforms Should Be Without Pockets? by kosovo(m): 8:12pm On May 30, 2010
wonderful posts, if implemented, it can go a long way in solving alot of Problems associated with the Nigeria police.

The synthetic nature of our currency would make it more difficult to racketeer.

@Poster LOOOOL.

You people must not underestimate the intelligence of our policemen. If you take away the pockets, these policemen will simply resort to carrying duffle bags arround or they will find a taylor to sow hidden compartments in their new uniforms. cheesy

Laughable. They'd all buy strap-around waist pouches, youth corper style. Who needs pockets.

Will you always ask them to UnCloth so that you see what they are wearing underneath, before resuming at work? undecided

roflmao.the nigeria policemen are the most innovative in the world.the problem of extortion has little to do with pocket but lack of the police authority to deal with the problem.police is not the only security agency in nigeria, why do they seem to be the only stubborn one.reason is that all manner of people get enlisted while those retrenched on the basis of GROSS misconduct are always recalled by the police service commission or the presidency.
What the police need is re-orientation,accountability and DISCIPLINE which are lacking in their system.uniform without pockets will not change anything.thankGod they dont wear suit.

I guess you would rather see a dirty and stinky cops on our road then, cos how cld you imagine some grown up adults with boots and yet no socks.
They are human and not animals, even animals in western world, some wear nice socks.

I agree with those in favor of the ingenuity of the NPF! They will first of all hunt down the man that brought the idea to life, therefafter they would overcome their challenge by converting their gun holsters into N20 store rooms. They would grow taller in height as their shoes would become temporary money bags!

This is so funny man, but man, you can hardly stop whatever that runs in the blood.
Roger runs in the blood of Nigeria police so don't be suprised to see police on road with empty cans for you to throw in your #20 or #50 coins. They are are not even ashame of themselves in the first place.

Introduce a cash-less economy by the use of debit cards and atms. If all carry electronic cash, how d heck are u gonna tip them? This also will reduce political corruption, cos when money is electronicaly transfered frm one dubious end to another, d transaction will be documented. When "ghana must go" moves, no one can trace its trajectory.
