Barewa College, Zaria, established in 1921 by then British Governor-General of Nigeria, Sir Hugh Clifford, is the only secondary school in Nigeria to have produced a Prime Minister, a Premier, 5 Head of States, 20 Governors, 2 Governors of the Central Bank of Nigeria, a plethora of ministers and many eminent Nigerians including the Sultan of Sokoto. Formerly known as Government College, Zaria, the name "Barewa" was adopted in 1971. It evolved from its symbol, signifying progress in the swift movement of the gazelle.

It is so unfortunate we Nigerian alumni don't give back to our alma mater. Whites are systematically brainwashed to "give back" and use the power of the alumni network. Stanford in 2013, made $1 BILLION in alumni donations ALONE. Yet you would see Indimni give $ 100/200 million to New York because his kid(s) graduated from there |
