Hi everyone
I drive a 1999 Toyota avensis. What could be the cause of my car feeling heavy anytime I'm driving as if something is pulling d car from d rear especially when I'm changing between gear 1-3?

pally if this is a manual trans vehicle, I suggest u transmit properly, why would u wanna go from 1 to 3? it'll definitely Drag due to the large difference in gear ratios. I do it when I drive a manual vehicle after revving in gear 1 and almost redlining it. but since u don't understand the concept of those gears I strongly suggest u count the gears sequentially. 1-2-3-4-5-6

If for any reason u must skip gears, make sure u attain the acceptable speed for the next gear before switching. each of those gears have their corresponding speed ranges

What do you mean by drag? Does it drag in neutral?

I drive same car with 5 speed manual. Here are my gear change sequence

Geat 1 from 800rpm to 2500rpm and switch to gear 2

Rpm drops to 1500rpm

Gear 2 frim 1500rpm to 2500rpm if i dont intend going fast or 3,500 if i want to cruise higher. I change to gear 3

From gear 3 i switch to gear 5 and cruise at 2000rpm that should be around 80km on flat road.

The drags you experience is due to engine rpm not matching your speed or your break is binding

binding brake would be felt from initial acceleration in gear one
