Everything can get killed in this country
Why can't humans kill other animals that are capable of killing humans? Humanity would have degenerated centuries ago if wild animals had been treated as pets. Eating them is what I have a problem with, but I'd kill animals that can't think about being humane and prefer to kill me first. Self defense.

This animals help our ecosystem. One day the only animals you will know will be dogs and pigs. Hippos don't eat flesh and are highly territorial.
lie, have u heard of d snake called black mamba, they don't eat flesh too ,an hippo can knock down 19 men at once with its head,a single venom released by a black mamba can kill 1000men if they are not quickly given medical attention

Actually, hippos are a nuisance

They are very territorial and violent. Due to their size, they can cause a lot of damage

All part of the failed state status of the country.

The northerners don’t even care because it(failure) is their natural state. It is only now getting serious because southerners are now being personally affected by the failure of Nigeria.

It is well.

Hippos are supposed to be protected.

Oh I forgot, This is Nigeria!

Let's be rational though, I'm sure they killed it in self defense. Hippos have terrible temperament.

Then the right thing to do would be to alert the relevant authorities, capture it and release it in a protected wild life reserve! Not butcher what in all likelihood could be one of the last hippos in the wild in Nigeria!

Here they come... everything is "in a sane country " Many of you don't even know what you are saying. There is no "sane " country where people will be prosecuted for defending their community against wild threats. In a sane country, preemptive steps would have been taken to mitigate intrusion of wild animals into domestic areas
