Signs You Are Eating Too Much Sugar!

Almost everything contains sugar, and we are probably consuming more of it without being aware.

Those foods that do not have sugar on the list of ingredients may contain something like sucrose, corn syrup or sweetener, glucose, dextrin, fructose, disaccharides, maltose, malt syrup and so on.

There are many ways that can tell you if you consume too much sugar.

Carbs and Sugar Cravings

. When we are consuming sugar, it stimulates the production of the pleasure hormone named dopamine.Sometimes we may want to eat carbs and sweet in order to “fix” ourselves. Of course, just like other addictions, we become tolerant to sugar, so we crave for more.

You Are Tired

Orexins are a sort of neuropeptide, and they are responsible for our wake and sleep cycle. These neurotransmitters are sensitive to sugar, and they respond to the glucose that we have in our body.

If there are even small increases of glucose in our blood, the transmission of neuro signals is prevented, so a sleep state is encouraged.

3. You Gain Weight

Our bodies can gain weight if we do not exercise and also, our metabolism has a role. But, consuming a lot of sugar leads to weight gain as well. Our body burns sugar first, and what it cannot be instantly used, it is stored as fat.

Additionally, consuming a lot of sugar suppresses the hormone leptin which is responsible for appetite. And, of course, feeling tired and lethargic because of sugar intake, you are unable to be physicall active too.
When you have increased blood sugar, then the insulin production is stimulated in order to normalize the levels, but your body thinks you need more food, so you eat more.

4. You Are Often Down With a Cold and Flu
Eating a lot of sugar weakens your immune system because glucose lowers the activity of white blood cells that are responsible for fighting against viruses. Since our bodies are less able to fight back, we are more exposed to illnesses when we eat too much sugar.
5. Dulled Sensitivity to Taste

According to researchers from Britain, overweight people have a dulled sensitivity to taste. Also, fit and healthy people who started drinking two soft drinks per day, after four weeks, they had a dulled taste and sugar cravings too.
The study reported that overweight people had food cravings because their subconsciousness craves high-calorie foods. And, one study from 2016 cutting down sugar restores the taste sensitivity.

6. Skin Issues

The most prevalent protein in our body is collagen, and it is responsible for the elasticity of our skin. But, because of too much sugar in our body, the collagen cells are less movable which stiffens our skin.
So, losing our elasticity, we become more prone to wrinkles. Additionally, sugar leads to inflammation of the cells, and that leads to other problems. Carbs such as pasta, rice, and bread increase the insulin and androgen, which results in oil production, clogged pores as well as pimples.

Even more, Candida lives on sugar, so you consuming a lot of sugar leads to vaginal infections, oral thrush, nail infections, and athlete’s foot, and it can lead to diabetic neuropathy too.

7. Risk of Cancer

Because of internal inflammation and heightened insulin production, our cells start rapid and abnormal reproduction and cancel cells live on sugar.

How Much Sugar is Too Much?

Natural sugars are found in fruits, and they contain vitamins, phytochemicals, and minerals that feed our cells. The amount of sugar we consume depends on our age, activity, and size.
The American Heart Association says that women should consume no more than thirty grams per day which is six teaspoons or a hundred calories. And, men should not take more than forty-five grams per day which is nine teaspoons or a hundred and fifty calories
.
An average carrot has 6 grams.
An average apple has 19 grams, and it has fiber too.
A hundred grams of pasta has 8 percent of the recommended daily intake.
A hundred grams of cereal has 68 grams.
A twelve-ounce can of cola has 39 grams.
A slice of white bread has 15 grams.
A hundred grams of rice has 28 grams.
Are Artificial Sweeteners a Smarter Choice?
Many think that artificial sweeteners are a better option than sugar, but that is not true. There is evidence that they lead to issues like depression, hypertension, cancer, obesity, diabetes and so on.Natural sources of sugar are fruits, honey, maple syrup, and molasses, and they are healthy and safe to use.

Fruit juice: natural sugar and contains minerals and vitamins.

Honey: raw honey is antibacterial, antifungal, and anti-inflammatory, also it has nutrients and antioxidants.
