The New Yorker recently selected 20 young writers who are headed for literary stardom and who it believes we’ll be reading in years to come. Nigeria/Africa’s own Chimamanda Adichie made the cut! Here’s the full list!

Don't make this into something that it is not. Clearly, you are trying to incite that kind of discussion. can't we get beyond all this tribal stuff? That is the same thing they do in comparing achebe and Soyinka. Anyway, I think she is the one of the best writers out there now. I am not igbo, but after reading half of a yellow sun and research that topic, it is really hard to think about certain things now. She is a Nobel laureate in training. A true ambassador of naija.

Much as I have heard how much this sister is changing the world I have not read any of her titles. Looks like I'm behind. I need to catch up, huh?

Goes to show that this Nigerian practice of encouraging brilliant chaps to go for medical related courses doesn't actually pay in the long run. Let them discover themselves and encourage them accordingly. God knows how many budding Adichies are languishing in our ill-equipped hospitals with their actual talents nipped in the bud.
