If you thought that the NYSC Certificate Saga involving Nigeria’s Finance Minister Mrs. Kemi Adeosun is over, then you are in for a real surprise as the National Youths Service Corps (NYSC) has disowned the purported exemption certificate in her possession.

In a swift reaction to an exclusive story published by PREMIUM TIMES on Saturday detailing how Mrs Adeosun skipped the mandatory national service and forged an exemption certificate of the service to cover for it, the NYSC has come out to literally deny issuing out an exemption certificate to her albeit in a diplomatic language.

After countless efforts to get the right information from the NYSC by the PREMIUM TIMES had failed, the reputable Nigerian Newspaper editors decided to re-channel the request through a Freedom of Information request. This was after the reputable newspaper had first written to the NYSC on April 16, 2018 requesting verification of the certificate.

To cut a long story short, the NYSC has finally decided to come up with an official response now in July, 2018. What kept them that long in such a very serious matter? Your guess is as good as mine.

Thank God for the Freedom of Information Bill that was finally passed into law by the immediate past President Goodluck Jonathan. Without that bill, we all know that all the efforts of PREMIUM TIMES in this matter would have gone in vain.

Our attention has been drawn to the issue of the alleged forgery of an NYSC Exemption Certificate by the Honorable Minister of Finance, Mrs. Kemi Adeosun.
Checking our records, Mrs. Adeosun did apply for an Exemption Certificate.

We shall investigate the origin of the purported Exemption Certificate in question.
