truckpusher on point... The truth remains that even the members of the house of the Reps kicking against it is purely a self serving purpose even though they are pretending to be the harbinger of good democracy. They are simply afraid that Buhari will use it to strip them off of their ill gotten wealth - Give them immunity before and after office over that executive order and see them vote without asking questions about the main content THIEVES FORMING LIKE NATION BUILDERS AND DEFENDERS OF DEMOCRACY.

THIEVES FORMING LIKE NATION BUILDERS AND DEFENDERS OF DEMOCRACY.

There is a process for prosecuting cases of corruption. It should be followed.

Bubu just wants to do away with rule of law and just seize people's property and throw them on the street if he can't prove a case against them in court.

That just won't do.

To bring it down to your level.

The House members aren't kicking against it because they love you so much but they are covering their own ass, because their hands are so dirty.

Bottom line is : Nigeria is fantastically corrupt that any idea to kill corruption won't breath because corruption is part of our national life and we all are involved.
You are nearly making sense

Executive order of this nature in the hands of a known tyrant who has zero regard for the rights of others , whose biased judgment is well documented, who has no regard for the constitution , and an Islamic fundamentalist is a no no.

Orders of this nature can only stand in a country where institutions are not owned by anyone or by any region but by the people.
You are very correct.

Like I said before, the executive order is a good policy.
That is actually the norm.

But unfortunately, we don't trust buhari to be neutral.
He will abuse it.

According to the House, the President cannot approbate and reprobate unilaterally without the inputs of the legislature and the judiciary which made up the pillars of democracy in the country.
They also said it is the usurpation of legislative powers constitutionally inherent in the National Assembly to make laws for the country
/

Oh! I never knew the legislators (senators) are part of the federal govt of Nigeria. They distance themselves from issues and heap blames on the presidency. When it comes to issues that will affect them and their greed, they rise to the occasion and claim being part of the govt and need for their inputs to be sought.

The executive fiat on corruption is a welcome one. Let it be thrown to Nigerians for ratification. The so called legislators will never consent to anything against their corrupt tendencies.

Executive order does not need the input of the house of reps, they should stick to their budget padding.
They should rather challenge the order in court if they feel is wrong or discriminating or intended to harm anyone

Corruption is as old as the existence of man.Everyone have the right to acquire wealth/property but It's left for government to prove in a competent court of law that such were illegally acquired & not via executive fiat.

Any wonder the clueless government keep losing even high profile corruption cases they could have easily bootstrapped Meanwhile that is how tyrannts behave;very lawless.

As much as I don't want to go into the merits or otherwise of the ORDER, seems like most people here don't understand the order.... It seeks, not to confisticate the ill gotten/stolen wealth, but an interim forfeiture, pending the determination of the case in the court.

In case u have not noticed... Corruption cases drag on in the courts too long, mostly because the offenders want it that way, so.. while it last for 5 to 10 years, the criminal will keep enjoying the loot. The govt should be asked to pay interest on the forfieted assets if finally it's determined it was not a product of corruption.

Hving said that tho... I hv not decided how I feel about the order at this time.

Lastly, can the house revoke/reject an executive order? If they can... What is the process? That I will have to find out

Low IQ is the problem in this country ..what makes You think I didn't understand what you wrote at first? There is a reason why we have proscribed processes on how to get properties forfeited all over the world whether or not house of rep are trying to protect their loot doesn't change the fact that the executive order is lawless and a breach of our laws ... we have laws and processes for reason and not for sentiments.

Yes we have laws but how often has law worked especially at the Judiciary level that is fantastically and completely corrupt?

Thank God for the internet for it reveals the foolishness of many people online.
People.whohave zero knowledge about laws and how it is applied are seen here commenting in their droves without knowing the intetion behind the executive order.
I watched a lawyer analyse this executive order on the programme deji360 that it was long in within and would quicken the corruption fight process but trust Nigerians with their backward mentality they will rather say no to anything that will benefit them in the long run because it coming from somebody whom they love to hate.
Whether the national assembly likes it or not, because we know most of them and their sleazy antecedent we will continue to support this government for all that is good that will benefit the masses.

With that Executive Order, PMB should just be given his uniform back and let him throw the Agbada away.

We do not need strong men any longer but strong institutions .
we are practicing the type of government we know little or nothing about. How many times Trumps has signed executive order without dirty contribution by their house/senate. These people just think they are more powerful than the president.

Until I see the content of that executive order, no comment.
We Nigerians should have it in MInD that over 90% of the Legislature is corrupt that is why we are not moving forward as a country.
Bill of reduction of their salaries was rejected,
Bill to lass peace corps into law was accepted,
Bill for asset declaration passed, bit how many declared?
I do not see anything wrong with a government confiscating stolen properties so long as d executive is not the sole decision maker.
In other news, Fayose has fainted again. E just start.
