Fayemi: Ekiti Workers’ Salary Arrears Will Be Paid In Six Months by G1STMORE: 5:10am On Jul 16, 2018
The winner of the Saturday’s governorship election in Ekiti State, Dr Kayode Fayemi, has said that he will pay the backlog of salaries owed civil servants in the state within the first six months of his return to office.

Fayemi of the All Progressives Congress beat Kolapo Olusola of the Peoples Democratic Party in a keenly contested race to succeed the incumbent Governor Ayodele Fayose.

Speaking at his residence in Isan-Ekiti, the former Minister of Solid Mineral Development, said Ekiti State lost value under Fayose, while also promising to re-introduce free education in the state.

He said, “Ekiti people should expect the eight-point agenda redoubled. They should expect the backlog of salaries cleared within the first six months of my coming to the office. They should expect re-introduction of free education, including payment of fees for the West Africa Examination Council, National Examination Council, National Business and Technical Examinations Board and the national entrance examination into tertiary institutions which they lost out on.

“We will re-introduce social security scheme for the elderly in an enhanced manner. They should expect the return of our youth volunteer programme. Luckily, the Federal Government has started a programme similar to what we used to have in Ekiti State, called N-Power. We will add our own initiative to that programme.

“The outgoing government is not interested in what happens to the young in our society beyond using them as thugs and forcing them to eat crumbs from the table of the master. They should expect a return to decency, decorum, integrity, values in Ekiti State. It is about reclaiming our land and restoring our values which we have lost in the past four years.”

Meanwhile, an APC chieftain, Prince Dayo Adeyeye, has congratulated Fayemi on his victory at the poll.

According to the former Minister of State for Works, Fayemi’s victory will change the leadership style in the state, stressing that the people of Ekiti deserved mature leaders who value development of state’s human and natural resources.

This is highly COMMENDABLE.
They should make sure the tout of an ex-governor vomits EVERYTHING he embezzled ASAP.

Very good.
Fayemi has better set to work immediately he's sworn in.
He must reciprocate the kind gesture of the good people of ekiti.

But, what happened to Ekiti state allocation all these years? I mean, do Fayose normally throw it into the deep ocean that made him not to pay salaries for over time??

Fayose didn't try at all, but that's not a enough reason why Satanic Apc should rig ekiti election.
That is more than enough reason to vote him out.... and allow the manipulation

You're confused. Not paying salary for six months is enough to vote him out. There wasn't any need to rig that election. And rigging is not easy at all nowadays.

No government that is owing workers salary and you think you can win I'm not a politician but anambra paid salary well infact two days to election every civil servants was recieving alerts and even leave arrears that was why Anambra governor won ,fayose don't have good advisers,,you want to win and feed fat and come up with more excuses then owe 10months salaries again right ? Faac was inconclusive because I know last month federal allocation would have been used but it was held ,next time be smart sad

As a governor and magician of a ruling party why wait for six months .
Obviously another political trick to help campaign for buhari 2019.

APC and aregbesola is owing months salaries in osun state, let's see if federal might and rigging will not be used to win the elections.

Honestly this is where I disagree with fayose. How can you owe workers six months salary and expect them to vote your candidate? He has collected bail out funds two times and yet nothing to show for it. This is the type of stupid politics of impunity associated with Nigerian politicians.
Its pure wickwdness.

Don't mind Fayose the foolish politician of Ekiti State.

Is his brain intact at all.

Owing salaries for months and expecting to win is a political tactics by morons.

Why not double pay them 12 months to election and use it to remind them of the unpaid salaries APC governors are known for.

As a Biafran I will tell you the truth.

The election was free and fair.

Number 1 rule of politics.

18 months to election, make sure you start paying your civil servants.

12 months to election, make sure you unofficially double their salaries.

6 months to election, make sure you unofficially double their bonuses.

3 months to election, tax exempt them.

After election, return everything to status quo.

Not only Fayose, Nigeria's politicians(governors) at large. I still remember that Ortom once said that he wasn't voted in to pay salaries, Chinwoke Mbadinuju(Anambra) once called pensioners "dead word" and Okorocha also told pensioners to forfeit 40% of their pension some time ago. So you see, Fayose is not alone. But, Fayose was the architect of his own problems

In a free and fair election, Okezie of Abia State will lose election because of salaries.

If APC ensure that no electoral irregularities in Abia State, APC will defeat PDP because of Okezie non payment of salaries.

Nothing was rigged bro, if u dnt stay in the state u wldnt believe, I met with friends who are opposition and said same number of vote counted at the polls were declared by inec, hard to believe but fayose was actually booted out, nobody saw that coming, most of his allies betrayed him, he thought he had their backup but they left him a long time ago.. Not their fault tho, fayose was selfish and self centered, u claim to be a saint but embezzle money underG, cut govt appointees salaries for your own benefit and personal monetary gain, he's been feeding fat but his followers stays hungry..

Stomach infrastructure was sham, Just another way to steal tax payers money, if u know anyone in ekiti, tell them to visit their office, I bet u wnt find a single bag of rice in that commission, tell them to speak with some of the workers then ull get a better picture, millions are been allocated for stomach infrastructure, but stipends are been spent for the masses, while the chunk of the loot is being kept by fayose.

A lot of things will unfold in weeks to come, but I trust my pple to call it victimization or witch hunting cos he's pdp, but ask urself how many times has buhari or fayemi threatened or replied fayose despite all his antics?

Yoruba pple dnt play party politics, if u mess up u must go home, no two ways about it, ya party pple will even join hands to fck u up, let's keep sending them home until they realize this and sit up.
