This thread will give my fellow united fans and fans latest news regarding mufc. SANCHEZ RETURNS LATE. The Chilean failed to join up with the squad for their flight to Los Angeles on Sunday, but the club are hopeful he will arrive in the coming days Alexis Sanchez has not travelled out with the Manchester United squad for their summer tour of the USA due to administrative issues. The Chilean trained with his team-mates at the club’s Carrington training complex last week following their return to duty on Wednesday, but was then missing from the check-in list as they embarked upon their tour at Manchester Airport on Sunday. On Monday he caused a stir among the United fan base by posting a picture of himself on Instagram with a new haircut, but all the while making no reference to his no-show status. But it has now been confirmed that Sanchez has been given time to resolve a personal administrative issue, and the club are hopeful that he will be free to join them within the next 24 to 48 hours. Sanchez has been a key member of Jose Mourinho’s first team since arriving from Arsenal in January in a swap deal involving Henrikh Mkhitaryan, but much is expected of him in his first full season in United colours in 2018-19. The delay to Sanchez’s arrival is a blow for Mourinho’s planning for the US tour, which gets underway with a friendly fixture against Club America in Glendale, Arizona on Thursday. The Portuguese’s squad is already shorn of 12 senior players on the trip due to their involvement in the World Cup. United will also feel the effect of seven of those players having reached the final weekend of the showpiece competition. Paul Pogba, Marouane Fellaini, Romelu Lukaku, Jesse Lingard, Ashley Young, Phil Jones and Marcus Rashford are all yet to take their summer break and therefore not expected to return to club duty until shortly before the Premier League opener against Leicester City on August 10. Mourinho has called up a number of youngsters for the trip to the US to fill the gaps, with highly rated young duo Tahith Chong and Angel Gomes among those making their first appearance on a senior tour. United’s summer schedule includes International Champions Cup fixtures against AC Milan, Liverpool and Real Madrid before they return to Europe to face Bayern Munich in Germany in their final game before the competitive season begins.

Alexis Sanchez has returned to the Aon Training Complex looking refreshed and energised, which is hardly surprising when you consider the Chilean has enjoyed his first summer off in nine years. by Adam Marshall That remarkable fact is due to our no.7 being so committed to his national team, competing in various international tournaments and friendlies since 2010. Thankfully, this summer, Alexis was omitted from the Chile squad that faced Serbia and Poland in a pair of friendlies, allowing him to enjoy a long overdue rest. After returning to United on Wednesday, our January signing from Arsenal is now looking forward to completing a full pre- season training camp throughout Tour 2018, presented by Aon, in the USA. EIGHT SUMMERS OF INTERNATIONAL ACTION 2010: Alexis made four appearances at the World Cup in South Africa - against Honduras, Switzerland, Spain and lastly Brazil in the round of 16. 2011: There were a couple of international friendlies to contend with, as La Roja claimed a 4-0 win over Estonia on 20 June before drawing 0-0 against Paraguay three days later. 2012: The action continued for Alexis after the conclusion of the domestic season, as Chile earned two vital World Cup qualifying victories against Bolivia and Venezuela in June. 2013: Alexis contested two World Cup qualifying matches in June, securing wins against Paraguay and Bolivia (scoring against the latter).. 2014: There was no rest at the end of the 2013/14 season, due to Chile reaching the last 16 of the World Cup, where they were knocked out by hosts Brazil. Alexis made four appearances at the tournament. 2015: Alexis lifted the Copa America in Chile, beating Argentina in the final via a penalty shootout. Our man sealed the win with a Panenka-style finish past his now United team-mate Sergio Romero, in his sixth tournament appearance. 2016: Our no.7 competed in six Copa America Centenario fixtures in the United States, as his national team claimed the trophy for the second successive year by beating Argentina on penalties.. 2017: After a long season with Arsenal, Alexis went all the way to the final in the Confederations Cup with Chile, before losing to Germany, playing five highly competitive matches in total. No be beans..... Due to his all-action style of play, coupled with a desire to impress at a new club, our no.7 was always going to tire by the end of 2017/18 and that’s why his first full summer off in nine years arrived at the perfect time. It is amazing to think that his last uninterrupted pre-season training camp was in 2013, while he was still an FC Barcelona player. Jose Mourinho has previously stated we will get the best out of Alexis from this summer onwards, mainly because January is always a tricky month to sign a player in the midst of a hectic season. With many of our forwards set to enjoy an extended holiday, due to their exploits at the World Cup in Russia, Alexis is likely to receive plenty of playing time on tour and could even lead the line. There is a genuine confidence that he will hit the ground running in what is a vital campaign for the club. make we see as d season go move fest

United star departs...
Daley Blind has
completed a
transfer from
Manchester United
back to former club
AFC Ajax. The versatile and technically-gifted Netherlands international has signed a four-year contract with his boyhood club in Amsterdam, from whom he initially joined the Reds in August 2014.Blind made the move to Old Trafford after starring at the World Cup in Brazil, where he famously supplied the left-footed cross that led to former United striker Robin van Persie’s now iconic diving header against Spain. Holland went on to reach the semi-finals of that tournament under the management of Louis van Gaal, who took charge of United afterwards and made Daley one of his first acquisitions. In total, across four seasons in England, Blind registered 141 Reds appearances and scored six goals. The 28-year-old also won four trophies and his first was the 2016 Emirates FA Cup, when he played every minute of our celebrated 2-1 extra-time victory over Crystal Palace at Wembley Stadium. The FA Community Shield success over Leicester City followed in August and our League Cup triumph against Southampton in February 2017. Blind’s standout achievement at United was surely the UEFA Europa League triumph over Ajax on that emotional evening in Stockholm, where he contributed to a pivotal clean sheet at centre- back alongside his good friend Chris Smalling. He made 17 appearances across the 2017/18 season and now bids farewell to United as he returns home to Amsterdam. It goes without question that everyone at the club wishes him well for the future. |

Juan Mata salvaged a 1-1 draw against America as Manchester United avoided defeat in their pre-season opener on Thursday. A bullet header from Henry Martin in the 59th minute had Mexican giants America on track for victory in sweltering conditions in Phoenix, until Mata hammered home the equaliser with 12 minutes remaining. The Red Devils – back in the United States for the second successive year – were missing a host of stars at University of Phoenix Stadium following the World Cup in Russia – Romelu Lukaku, Jesse Lingard and Marcus Rashford on holiday after Russia 2018. Mourinho hails Man
Utd youngster Chong
after impressive
pre-season cameo
Jul 20, 2018 09:29:09 Main
The Red Devils boss wants the
highly rated winger to train
with the first team as much as
possible in order to aid his
development
Manchester United boss Jose
Mourinho has hailed
Tahith Chong after the
youngster impressed during
his side's 1-1 draw with Club
America in pre-season.
The 18-year-old came off the
bench to play a key role in Juan
Mata's equaliser in Phoenix as
the Red Devils started their
preparations for the upcoming
Premier League season .
Chong, who was named as the
club's young player of the year
last season, put in a teasing
cross which was initially met by
Ander Herrera before Mata
found the back of the net for
Mourinho's side.
Mourinho believes Chong needs
to improve physically but was
full of praise for the Dutch
winger's confidence and ability.
He told United's official club
website: “He [Chong] was
good. “He came with the intention to show [what he can do] and in a moment where we had no strikers on the pitch – [Anthony] Martial was the only one and then he left, so we had no strikers – so we needed people to create and have some initiative, which he did. “The action for the cross for the goal [by Mata] was a beautiful action. He was enthusiastic and he was confident to play. “Of course, physically he has his limitations and, when he had one more touch and he allowed the body contact [from defenders], of course he loses [the ball] for everyone. “But when he makes the ball move and when he attacks people one against one, he has qualities – he’s a good kid.“ Mourinho also hopes to have Chong training with the United first team as much as possible in an effort to aid his development and boost his chances of a competitive debut in the future. ”We have plans to make him [Chong] train the most possible times with us because that increases his evolution,” Mourinho added. “He has to play where he belongs, he has to play in the Academy and he has to work physically because physically is where he’s not ready. “Technically he’s very good, tactically he understands the game. He understands his position. From the physical point of view, when the game gets into important situations, he’s in trouble, he’s fragile. “He’s a kid, he’s still a kid, the talent is there, the personality is there, the passion, the desire to play, the humility to learn, so it’s a fantastic experience for him if he can play like today 20-25 minutes in every one of these five matches. “If during the season, he trains with us and if during the season, he has a couple of occasions to play minutes with us, I don’t know, it depends, especially some cup matches. “Of course he’s a good kid and it’s not for today, but for sure, he’s a good kid.” |

**Jose's take** Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho said Thursday's 1-1 pre-season draw with Club America in Arizona "pushed us to levels we are not prepared for". United had to come from behind against the Mexican side as Juan Mata's 78th-minute strike cancelled out Henry Martin's opener on 59 minutes. The Premier League side were without many key players after the World Cup. Paul Pogba, Romelu Lukaku and English duo Jesse Lingard and Marcus Rashford were among those missing. David de Gea, Nemanja Matic and new Brazilian signing Fred are expected to join the team next week. Alexis Sanchez is also due to join the team shortly in the United States after resolving his visa issues. The Chile forward, who accepted a 16-month suspended jail sentence in February for tax fraud, missed the start of the tour as he was unable to get a US visa. Both sides had to contend with hot conditions as temperatures reached 40C, and Mourinho told MUTV: "They were a team with intensity and quality so it was a good training session for us." |

**JOSE AVOIDS EPL TITLE TALK** Jose Mourinho refused to answer whether he thought his Manchester United squad are strong enough to compete for the Premier League title next season. United have brought in three players for around £68m this summer and the 55-year-old told ESPN he would like to sign "two more players". Then asked at a news conference if he was confident of challenging, Mourinho said: "I don't answer your question." The Portuguese manager stayed silent when pressed to explain why. United were runners-up to Manchester City last season, but finished 19 points behind the champions, and lost to Chelsea in the FA Cup final. The £47m spent on midfielder Fred has been their biggest outlay of the current window so far. The club have also been linked with Chelsea's Brazilian midfielder Willian, Eintracht Frankfurt's Croatia winger Ante Rebic and Tottenham's Belgian defender Toby Alderweireld. Mourinho was speaking to the media in Los Angeles before his side's pre-season friendly against AC Milan on Thursday. The United boss said he was not fully satisfied on the USA tour because he was without several members of his first-team squad, who are on a break following the World Cup. The Red Devils had 12 players competing at the tournament, with eight featuring in the semi- finals. Tottenham also had 12 players in Russia while Manchester City had 16. "I don't have the majority of the players that are going to be in the squad on 9 August when the market [transfer window] closes and we can make it official for the season. So of course I'm not happy, to have just a few players," he added. 'It will be difficult for United to win the league' - Scholes Ex-United midfielder Paul Scholes believes his former side face a tough task to win their 21st top- flight crown and that Mourinho is not in the right frame of mind. "Every year when United don't win something, it's a disaster," the 43-year-old, who won 11 league titles at Old Trafford, told Bein Sports. "He's obviously got to try to win the league, but there's so many good teams now, it's going to be difficult. "He doesn't look happy to me. It's a team that grind out results rather than really impress you and that's probably what he's happy with. That's where he's been at his best over the years. "I think he's got every resource available to him to have a team to win the league. That's what the fans expect and what I'm sure his bosses above him expect."

**Pogba slammed by his name sake** The Manchester United midfielder won the World Cup with France this summer but has been told to up his game at club level by the Old Trafford icon Paul Scholes says Paul Pogba must raise his game at Manchester United, claiming the midfielder needs to "use his brain" to ensure he becomes one of the game's top players. Pogba made a sensational return to Old Trafford in 2016, arriving after a successful four- year stint at Juventus for a then-record fee of €105 million (£89m). The midfielder faced widespread criticism for his early form in the Premier League, however, as he struggled to adapt to life back in the English top flight. The 25-year-old has steadily found his feet since and was an important figure for Jose Mourinho's United side throughout the 2018-19 campaign, making 25 league appearances despite missing part of the season with a thigh injury. Pogba ended the domestic season strongly before helping the France national team claim their second ever World Cup trophy, scoring in Les Bleus' 4-2 victory over Croatia in the final.Despite his success in Russia, however, Scholes has questioned the midfielder's consistency at club level and believes that a settled starting XI at Old Trafford may be the key to helping the Frenchman achieve that. "Paul needs to find a consistency, I think," Scholes told beIN SPORTS. "You look at his game, he can be brilliant one week and not so good the next week. "He seems to be a player which you get a performance out of every three to four games. If you're going to win leagues, that's not enough, it's just not enough. "He needs to become that commanding player he was at Juventus - he was part of a set structure at Juventus, he knew every week which position he was going to play, who he was going to play with, and I don't think that has helped him at United. "I'd be amazed if the same team has been named twice in a row, or the same formation. There doesn't seem to be a set way of where it's going and that could possibly work against him. Scholes' criticism of Pogba isn't the first time he has questioned him publicly, having previously told the club to sell the midfielder if there was any doubt in his loyalty. The two were also shunted into the spotlight when Scholes questioned Pogba's attitude following United's 1-0 defeat to West Brom in April. And while the player-turned- pundit has no doubt about the quality of Pogba, he believes that he still has some way to go before being compared with the best in the game. "There's no doubt the lad has real quality - he's shown in the World Cup that he can play," Scholes added. "He's such a strong lad, he's such a fit lad. He can run, he has great technique as well, great ability. But he needs to use his brain a little bit more to become a top footballer." United kick off the new Premier League season with a home game against 2015-16 title winners Leicester City on August 10.

**MARTIAL LEAVES UNITED** Manchester United forward Anthony Martial has left the pre-season tour of the United States to attend the birth of his second child. **mou on martial** The France international has been linked with a move away from the Red Devils this summer, but has left camp due to the birth of his second child Jose Mourinho has confirmed Anthony Martial has left Manchester United's tour of the United States to attend the birth of his second child in Paris. Martial has been strongly linked with a move away from the club after his agent claimed he wanted a move , with the France international reported to have a strained relationship with Mourinho . It was speculated on Wednesday that Martial would be returning home but later Mourinho confirmed his departure was not due to transfer rumours . "I found out that Martial was going to Paris when he told me," Mourinho told reporters after United's 1-1 International Champions Cup game with AC Milan, which they ultimately won 9-8 on penalties . "It was two or three days ago. When it is personal reasons, everyone analyses that the way they think is the correct way. "When a man is going to be a father in this case, it's the second time he is going to be a father, and he decides it is very important for him to go, nobody has the right to stop him to go." The shoot-out victory over Milan was United's first ICC contest of the year and, following a couple of unimpressive draws with Club America and San Jose Earthquakes, Mourinho was happy with how things went. "The game was good, a good training session against a team with more time [training] than us, with more players than us, so was a good training session," Mourinho said. "We played in a system [3-5-2 formation] we don't play many, many times, so it's good experience too. "We made a couple of defensive mistakes, but with the ball we were dangerous, especially when fresh, our problem at the moment is to play 90 minutes, but for 65 minutes we were very good. "We had a chance not to just score goals but score beautiful goals; the counter with Ander [Herrera] in the first half and Alexis [Sanchez] in the second. "And in the end the penalties mean nothing, but I think football fans, especially American football fans, enjoyed the penalty shoot-out and [it] was good fun." |

**sanchez impresses on united return** The Chilean impressed as the Red Devils beat Milan on penalties on Wednesday night but the absence of Martial was the big news to come out of the camp From the minute Manchester United landed in Los Angeles for their 2018 summer tour, Jose Mourinho made it clear that preparation for the new season was going to be far from ideal due to the absences of 12 players following World Cup duty. But even the United manager could not have envisaged their US trip being quite as disjointed as it has become, with their continued search for a victory inside 90 minutes following the 9-8 penalty win against AC Milan on Wednesday night seeming immaterial following the early departure of want-away attacker Anthony Martial. Martial quit the tour a week early to return to Paris to be at the birth of his son, with rumours emanating from the camp that he had told team- mates he will not be returning stateside to rejoin the squad. The Frenchman, whose future had already looked destined to lie away from Old Trafford for some time, has attracted the ire of Mourinho with his latest decision. It is just the latest twist during a summer which has had the Portuguese sporting a furrowed brow throughout. While the lack of many World Cup stars until the final days before the season is down to simple misfortune, Alexis Sanchez’s visa delay, Antonio Valencia’s injury, the lack of victories against mediocre opposition and the board’s inability to get anymore transfers over the line have all combined to raise Mourinho’s frustrations further. The lack of decent attendances will also spark questions over a return to the US in 12 months’ time however much the manager swears by the preparation afforded him at his favoured UCLA training base. One saving grace for the boss to this point has been Sanchez’s form since arriving in America, and the former Arsenal forward was United’s star man by some distance in the 1-1 draw with Milan in Carson. Playing in the centre of attack in the absence of Martial, Sanchez was always lively and seemingly revelled in the spotlight as United’s sole forward of any seniority. After netting the opening goal coolly from a delicious Juan Mata touch, Sanchez later turned on the tricks with an attempted shot from a corner and an outside-of-the-foot flick effort when driving into the channel on a counter. Despite having missed out on a few days of intensive work with the squad due to the admin issue caused by his blocked visa application, Sanchez looks as sharp as he has at any point in a United shirt. The 29-year-old’s arrival in January served to push Martial to the fringes of the squad but never quite saw him hit his stride in 2017-18, and Mourinho will be hopeful that Sanchez’s early summer form can lead to improved performances in the season ahead. Typically, United’s performance raised more concerns though. Within two minutes of Sanchez’s excellent goal they had managed to part like the Red Sea to allow Suso the time and space needed to equalise. Leonardo Bonucci’s rudimentary long ball found the Spaniard after Axel Tuanzebe had watched his man run off him and both Chris Smalling and Eric Bailly failed to react. It was just another moment on this wretched tour that left Mourinho fuming, and but for some slack Milan finishing the mood may have deepened later on. While United’s display was slicker in general than their performances against Club America and San Jose Earthquakes, they could easily have conceded from a number of half-chances that Milan failed to take, must notably when Fabio Borini hit the post late on. Matters weren’t helped by the fact most of the United side had to pull a full 90-minute shift due to the lack of experience on the bench, with only 10 first-team starts between the 10 available substitutes. The vibe around United is that they need a fast start to Mourinho’s third season if the boss is to keep the fans off his back but all the signs at present suggest that there will be a difficulty getting any kind of cohesion out of this squad in the short term. Nemanja Matic has now rejoined the group and David de Gea and Fred will follow in the coming days, but United need a whole heap of positivity right now. Some full stadiums would be nice, even one or two new signings maybe. And a resolution of the Martial malaise needs to be reached sooner rather than later too. |

**match report ac milan v man utd** Franck Kessie chipped a spot- kick over the crossbar to finally hand Manchester United victory after 26 penalties in California on Wednesday. Manchester United enjoyed a winning start to their International Champions Cup campaign after surviving a penalty shoot-out 9-8 against AC Milan. Franck Kessie chipped a spot- kick over the crossbar to finally hand United victory after 26 penalties, following a 1-1 draw in Pasadena, California on Wednesday. Milan twice had the opportunity to prevail after Pepe Reina saved three successive penalties, including one from United counterpart Joel Pereira, but the Red devils eventually triumphed in a marathon. United made a dream start at the Rose Bowl when the refreshed Sanchez broke the deadlock in the 12th minute. Having struggled following his high-profile arrival from Arsenal, Sanchez – who enjoyed an extended break courtesy of Chile's failure to qualify for the World Cup – scored with a tidy finish past Gianluigi Donnarumma. Jose Mourinho, however, was left visibly frustrated after United conceded three minutes later – a ball from Leonardo Bonucci picking out Suso with ease. Both teams enjoyed chances to win their ICC opener but neither side could make the breakthrough in regulation time as United prevailed on penalties. Bonucci has been tipped to complete a sensational return to Italian champions Juventus but the experienced centre- back skippered a Milan side, boasting Donnarumma, Hakan Calhanoglu, Suso and Patrick Cutrone. There was no Anthony Martial for United after the disgruntled forward returned home for the birth of his second child amid growing doubts over his future. The Red Devils, though, still fielded Alexis Sanchez, Juan Mata, Ander Herrera, Eric Bailly, Luke Shaw and out-of-favour Matteo Darmian, who surprisingly wore the captain's armband in Antonio Valencia's absence, despite being linked with a transfer. Herrera almost put United ahead in the third minute, but Donnarumma got down low to tip away the shot. But the Red Devils did hit the front thanks to Sanchez nine minutes later after being played through by Mata in a swift move. |

** liverpool must win title-mou** After large investment in the squad this summer, the Reds should be aiming for a first top flight title since 1990, according to the Portuguese Jose Mourinho says the expectation is on Liverpool to win the Premier League title this season after their high- profile signings this summer. The Reds crowned Alisson Becker the most expensive goalkeeper in history when he joined from Roma for £65 million ($85m) this summer , following Naby Keita from RB Leipzig, Fabinho from Monaco and Xherdan Shaqiri from Stoke City as the latest arrival at Anfield. The Anfield side are looking to improve on last season’s league performance after finishing 25 points behind Manchester City in the Premier League while reaching the Champions League final. And although Mourinho is interested to see Jurgen Klopp go back on his assertion that he would never go on large spending sprees, he expects great things from his rivals this season. "I think if you have the money, if you invest well, is better than to have it in the bank, because the interests are very low," Mourinho told reporters with a smirk after his side's 9-8 penalty win over AC Milan in the International Champions Cup . "The problem is you have to invest well and honestly I think they did very well because every player they bought are quality players and I'm happy for them. "And I'm also happy to smile and to see that, you know, you can change your opinion and change as a person. It's funny. But that's okay. "But maybe this season finally you demand that they win. You, I think, you have to be fair and now you have to demand and say the team with investments you are making with investments that you start making last season, not just this season, last season. "That you made in January, that you make now, that will probably be the record of the Premier League this season, I don't see another team getting close to that level of investment, a team that was a finalist in the Champions League, you have to say you are a big candidate. You have to win." |
