This is under the politics section because our collective political will is needed to push this through.

Our boys are back.
Yes, it's true-
A dismal performance at the world cup finals.
But, what if…
What if there was a way to discover the very best footballers amongst our teeming youths?

Now, imagine-
Over the next four years, we're going to organise a nationwide football tournament:
1. SS1 and 2 class in every secondary school will compete to find and create the school's team.
2. Every secondary school will compete to find the best in their local government area.
3. The winners will compete in state championships.
4. All state winners will compete for the best Nigerian secondary school team!

PRIZE MONIES:
LG finalists- 100,000 x 2 per LG
LG winners- 500,000 per LG

State finalists- 500,000 x 2 per state
State winners- 1,000,000 per state

National finalists- 1,000,000 x 2 teams
National winning team- 5,000,000

Total prize money=(700,000 x 774)+(2,000,000 x 37)+(7,000,000)
=> 541,800,000+74,000,000+7,000,000
= N622,800,000.

OVERALL GOOD
What if every match was broadcast by local channels?
What if all LG/state/national final qualification matches were broadcast by all satellite TV networks?
What if local businesses supported their schools through branded kits, lodgings, celebratory gifts, etc?
What if this program ran on a rolling, continuous basis…?

DIRECT IMPACT
Imagine the benefits of this simple policy:
- To local businesses: advert revenue, snacks and drinks, transportation to matches, printing, mascot designs, flags and logos, etc, etc…
- ‎To students: future scholarships, scouting by local/national teams, opportunities to showcase skills, discipline and focus, etc, etc…
- ‎To the schools: improved student morale, better local funding, better sports engagement (track and field, cheer leading, etc), improved facilities, etc, etc…
- ‎To parents, families and neighborhoods: improved interactions/community involvement, improved living standards, better attention to children's academics and extracurriculars, etc, etc…
- ‎To government at all levels: increased tourism, improved economic outlook, increased tax revenue, improved readiness/performance at future sporting events, etc, etc…

So, are we going to do this, or repeat the cycle of mediocrity in 4 years' time?

Just copy and paste on the Social Media pages of every sports institution you can manage, so the govt knows we're serious about this.

(Please, if you have added suggestions or see holes in the proposal, kindly post and you will be graciously recognised! Thanks! cheesy )
