1) The installation project has a SPI of 1.30 and a CPI of 1.0 there are 14 team members and each team member had input into the final project management plan. The customer has accepted the three deliverables produced so far without complaint and the responsibility assignment matrix has not changed since the project began. The project is being completed in a matrix environment and there are no contracts needed for the project

Though the sponsor is happy with the status of the project, one team member is always complaining about how much time his project work is taking. Which of the following will be the best thing YOU to do?

(a)Review the reward system for the project
(b)Try to improve schedule performance of the project
(c)Meet with the customer and try to extend the schedule
(d)Gain formal acceptance in writing from the customer

The answer will be supplied next week,

Hello Flaminhart,

The correct answer should be (A) rewiew the reward system.

The reason is this, SPI-Schedule performance is above one which means it is fine and the project is on schedule. The CPI-that's the Cost performance index is again also above 1, meaning, they have not overspent their budget, which is a good thing. This eliminates option 'b'.

Option D, is just there to deceive you, since the customer has accepted the intial delvierables (means a formal acceptance has been done) according to PMI standards., And ultimately, there is no need to meet the customer to extend the schedule. The problem is with the tema member. He is not happy with his rewards. He complains yet has been a part of the team that delivered the initial 3 deliverables.

The project manager should look into the reward systems to ensure he gets motivated enough to deliver your work on time.

Thats my Take. I am open to objections to my views!

Answer B
Explanation:
Improving project performance (choice B) relates to completing the project sooner. Though it would always seem to be a good idea to improve schedule performance, this project’s performance is fine. The schedule has been approved as it is. It would be better for the project manager to spend more time controlling the project to make sure it finishes according to plan than to improve schedule performance.
