PRIVATIZATION in Nigeria: a way to go or a way not to go?
Re: Nigerian Govt. Companies Listed For Privatization by BigB11(m): 5:28pm On Mar 30, 2007
Nigeria is ready to change for better and forever.

Privatization with Federal Government strict regulation to protect the citizens is absolutely the way to go.

If privatisation takes the form of sell-offs of national assets at discounted prices to highly connected individuals,it would be better not to privatise.

Such a course of events will be of great diservice to Nigeria,for it will discredit the principle of privatisation in the eyes of Nigerians even though privatisation in principle is very beneficial.

Big b1, I see your point and I'm 100% for it
Our great nation continues to crumble year after year, regime after regime; the only hope at this point is to introduce privatization at a large scale.
With Government guidelines and regulation to protect the citizens, sky is the limit.

4 play, your point also makes sense, but you're referring to Nigeria of yesterday. Things are clearer and different, People in general are much smarter and can not be easily deceived.
Let us support privatization and things will change for better.

@Big b1, thanks for a great topic.
I think this is the most important and serious thing that is currently going on in Nigeria. Forget the election, it is all fake  and fixed; we do not have any control over the out come, but privatization issue is all in our hands if we care.

I have been touting privatization as the answer, but that's only part of it. The true answer is deregulation. Selling a public monopoly to a Nigerian company is not all: we need other companies competing with that monopoly.

Privatisation is not good for privatisation's sake.We have sold off NITEL to Transcorps,a coy undeniably linked with Govt officials.

Privatisation if well implemented is a fantastic development for the country but at the rate we are going,we seem to be repeating the Russian example of the early 90s.
