People who break into other people's computers and networks, often in an attempt to steal sensitive information.

in the it community, hacker is a term for gifted programmers.i think cracker is the term you're looking for.i know i know, our friends in the media have abused the word.

here's a funny one i remember from an old edition of the hacker's dictionary:

suit :
-uncomfortable or itchy clothing worn by business personnel
-one who wears suits

invariably worn with a tie ;a strangulation device that partially cuts off blood supply to the brain
(it is thought that this explains alot about the behavior of suit wearers)
am sure y'all technical folks in the house feel that one!
