|Jang Declares 30-day Fasting, Prayers Over Fresh Jos Attacks by ~Bluetooth: 7:42am On Jul 20, 2010|
Following another attack on Tagir village, a stone throw from Mazzah village which was attacked last Saturday, Plateau State Governor, Jonah Jang, has declared thirty days fasting and prayers to appease the "gods" of death and destruction in the state.
Ten people were recently gruesomely murdered in Mazah village in Jos North local government area of the state by unknown assailants.
The people of the area were still trying to get over it when another group launched a fresh attack on a nearby village, a development that triggered a reprisal attempt among the irate Angwa-Rukuba youths who had vowed to avenge the killing of their neighbours.
But for the quick response of the men of the military Special Task Force (STF), who waded in to stem the riot, it would have degenerated into another bloody massacre.
Although no life was lost in Tagir, wanton destruction, including loss of livestock, ensued.
It was gathered that the villagers were able to repel the assailants into the hills before the arrival of security men.
The security agencies have however refused to react to the latest development.
This recent incident drove the governor into declaring fasting and prayer which takes effect from today.
Jang enjoined all residents to call on the "God of Heaven" for intervention in the security situation in the state, adding that only God can avert the tragedy currently befalling the state.
He appealed to the people to remain forgiving and leave vengeance to God.
He also sympathised with all who lost their loved ones in the attack and previous ones saying their blood will not go in vain.

Mr Governor Sir,
Jus to remind you that God has called us both as priests and as kings. There is a time to pray as a priest and there is a time to excercise authority as a king. I think we have been priests for too long! and it appears we just content. ENOUGH OF THE PIUS PRAYERS!

I just can't understand how weak a man can be. Did we elect you to direct religous affairs or to take decisive action when the need arises? Plateau would be better off without Jang it seems, for an ex-military man,he put the 'S' in spineless.

So 5 days fasting and prayers is the solution? Just the same way some people organized fasting and prayers for super eagles to win the world cup. Yeye Governor.
