Exporting processed food stuff from UK to supply to the Nigerian market (e.g heinz, dolmios, ragu e.t.c)

or

Exporting Nigerian food stuff to supply to the Uk market (geisha, golden morn, milo e.t.c).

Which business would be easier? more profitable?

This could be a really useful and informative thread for those looking at the food export/import business 

i have interest in that too but i dont know how easy it is
cuz i dont knw anybody around

papi22, it is doable providing one has the capital and necessary documentation to start. I have saved money for this business but dont know where to even start. I need advice. Plenty of it. It seems to be somewhat of a grey area here on nairaland. I hope someone comes to our rescue!

It would be more advisable to import food from UK to Nigeria as there is more capital to be made from that. Everybody knows that Nigerians loves UK products and so long as you import the right kind of food, there is big money in that,

You can export thing like gari ijebu,snails to uk, but confirm the legality of food items you are bringing to Nigeria from UK.

you can go to lagos chambers of commerce and industry @ police college ikeja and also nigeria export promotion council @ apapa and believe they will be of assistant to you.

They don't export, training is where they make money, they gather few information that will never help you start anything on export business, check NEPC list of performing exporters in Nigeria if you will see their names there. I have attended Ismail Abdulazeez (Exportfromnigeria) foodstuff export training and is zero. He cant tell you international prices of any of the foodstuffs and he cant tell you how you can get buyers, without these, how is the person you trained going to start exporting? If you have somebody in UK where African foods are mostly sold, contact the person like i am presently doing, tell the person to help you go where they sell foodstuff, tell the sellers he has somebody that can be supplying them and ask them the prices they buy, payment terms and method . When you are done with that, go to NAHCO export unit at murtala mohammed airport, Lagos, meet one of the agents and ask him what you require to send the foodstuff you want to send. If you meet somebody there who is exporting same product you want to be exporting, make him/her your friend and let the person be giving you guides.
