Lagerback Turns Back On Nigeria by rockers: 4:55am On Aug 04, 2010
A new coach will most definitely be named to take charge of the Super Eagles as it is now almost certain that the team’s handler, Lars Lagerback, will not be returning to Nigeria.

The Nigerian agent of the Swedish born coach, Emeka Enechi, disclosed this to NEXT. He revealed that Lagerback is not disposed to returning to Nigeria. Enechi, who brought Lagerback to Nigeria after the NFF made public their decision to employ a foreign coach for the Super Eagles, said the Swede didn’t feel the working environment was conducive for him. “There were so many things happening, especially within the federation and he wasn’t comfortable with it,” said the UK based Enechi, who is currently holidaying in Nigeria. “He was ready to work and make the Super Eagles a formidable side but there were a few individuals who were out to make life difficult for him. (Former NFF president, Sani) Lulu was giving him all the support he needed but there were others who didn’t feel comfortable with him around and they did all they could to make what was already a difficult job even more difficult,” said Enechi, who then added that the only way Lagerback would have succeeded in Nigeria was if he had unrestricted access to Aso Rock. “That’s the only way,” he declared. “Any coach who wants to succeed in Nigeria must have access to the president regardless of whether he is a Nigerian or a foreigner because there will always be someone in the background waiting to make life difficult for the coach.”

Ten foreign stars for Korea friendly

Currently in charge of the Super Eagles is Augustine Eguavoen who has the task of preparing the side for the upcoming friendly against South Korea. The game takes place on August 11 in Seoul and it is likely, as the game approaches, that the former Super Eagles captain will be prosecuting the friendly without the full complement of the country’s top players no thanks to injuries and club commitments which has now forced the Super Eagles caretaker coach to settle for only 10 overseas based players. Ikechukwu Uche has been knocked out by an injury that looks set to keep him out of action for half of the season, while the likes of Haruna Lukman, Obinna Nsofor, and John Obi Mikel have cited club commitments as their reason for pulling out of the tie. Fortunately for the team’s caretaker coach, he will have the likes of Dickson Etuhu, Obafemi Martins, Kalu Uche, Danny Shittu, Sam Sodje, Dele Ayenugba, Brown Ideye and Osaze Odemwingie, as well as Joseph Akpala and Beijing 2008 Olympics star, Solomon Okoronkwo, available for selection along with 10 Nigerian based players who are expected to depart Nigeria for the South Korean capital on August 7.

Largerback my foot! He did nt come top during his recruitment interview, except for the Nigerian factor. He was a waste of money. What did we get from him, except 1 point with the huge salaries and benefits. A local coach would ve taken 5% of his salary and equally give us same 1 point or even more. A Very bogus investment!

Why does this post appear as "Lagerback turns his back to Nigeria" on the homepage.

It would be nice if the threads that appear on the homepage are at least grammatically correct. This is just an observation, not a call for insults.

Are we really sure that the money he collected was his real pay? With Lagerback's co-operation, those NFF guys may have padded the thing for their selfish purpose.

I dont blame lagerback at all. Saw this picture in one of the dailies and it shows the behaviour of the present eagles to national assignment. In the picture is the physical fitness trainer of super eagles in one of the training session last SA 2010 world cup. The man dey front dey deceive himself, yakubu dey waka for back. None of the player did what was expected of them in the picture

Nigerians in Nigeria should match to the glass house & demand that Samson Siasia be apointed as the Coach of the Super Eagles!! I CAN´T BELIEVE WE DON´T HAVE A COACH! WHY ARE THESE PEOPLE WASTING TIME LIKE THIS!! ÍT´S NOT NORMAL AT ALL!!!!
Re: Lagerback Turns Back On Nigeria by aieromon(m): 4:35pm On Aug 04, 2010
Like Ericksson, like Lagerback - low coaches who were only desperate to be at the world cup to boost their low profile CVs.

Seriously guys the guy might have a point there. Have u ever had any dealings with any of these our ministry people? If U did U'll know that the messengers, and secretaries are the worst kinda people U can face even when 'oga' approves, they will frustrate whatever it is oga approved not untill U report to oga in person and oga stands over them will they hear U. I have a feeling that is just happened hendce the term ' one has to have access to the pesident to get things done'.

Re: Lagerback Turns Back On Nigeria by kaiosama(m): 2:51pm On Aug 05, 2010
$200,000 a month is not a small money to cruise around. Make it x4 or x5 months and see what it gives. a whooping $800,000 or $1,000000. that's is what Nigeria gave my fellow man under 4 to 5 months. naija get money o!. chei! chineeeeeke!. i know a Nigerian coach heading the super eagles cannot be paid such an amount in Nigeria. NAIJA!. o di mma na ezi.
Re: Lagerback Turns Back On Nigeria by namdo(m): 2:53pm On Aug 05, 2010
I did say that the white man will fail and that we would not be able to blame him because the time was short to the  WC. Now he can't continue because some ppl won't allow him free hand, or was he owed?

Our administrators think they are wise but the oyinbo just come chop the cash and sally because he knew our mentality already.
Even Amodu would have achieved better results in SA2010 i can tell you this, just a draw, na waaaaa.

I hope our admins at NFF learnt from this stupidity of lulu and co.
