It seems like there is a lot of confusion concerning the true boundaries of Igboland.

Well the map below is an accurate map of Igboland. And this belongs in the Politics sections.

Does Igboland look landlocked?

Is Igboland to the East of the River Niger?

Does Igboland include parts of Cross River, Rivers and Benue?

Igbo land stretches all the way to Edo state. Nigerian govt and its people have tried their best to shrink Igbo land as much as they could but its happening. The Igbos there might have been to scared to identify their land as Igbo land but recent events have shown that those days are gone or going away.

It is funny how some people think the Igbo did not cross the river Niger. Are we afraid of water?

The map is generous to the Igbo because it gives a lot of Kalabari land to them, eating up towns such as Abonnema, Degema and co. The truth is that Igboland south stops right underneath Port Harcourt. The other parts of the map are correct, maybe apart from the crossing of the boundary over River Benue. If there was ever an Igbo country and Ijaw country, the Igbo would have to ask permission and sort out a deal to use their Bonny River because Port Harcourt isn't directly connected to the Atlantic.

Provide the real map then or something that supports your claim.

The only difference with yours is that it doesnt include P.H. area at all.which is inaccurate because P.H. and a few of the surrounding areas indeed are igbo land

I dont see anything Igbo supremacy here. The title read, in case it's not legible enough for you to read, the TRUE EXTENT of Alaigbo(Igboland). Not the 'supremacy' of Alaigbo.

Just informative!

I'm concerned because you guys, collectively, have an inferiority complex. If what you people come online to do is representative of the Igbo psyche, then there's a problem. Seriously, no other tribe is like this on Nairaland.

Take the Igbo-bashing a lot of you were whining about few weeks ago, most of those guys most times do that stuff just for sport. There are very few real 'hate-mongers' here on Nairaland, but when you guys keep on and on like in this thread for example, someone like me will be tempted into goading you people cause you're so predictable & reactionary.

You need to grow up, mostly. & the old men doing this with you need to get a life.

One cannot claim access to sea without having any visible seafaring culture. . . we would know progress is being made when that most agrarian of societies, the Ikwerre are transformed into a society of aquaphiles. . . . I recommend that Ikwerre men start fishing in Abonnema wharf as the first step toward building a minutely plausible argument.  grin grin grin

^^^ If so, Igbo would be the only people on planet earth who live by the sea but refuse to go in it.  grin

Needless to say, Ikwerre man has never fished in Abonnema wharf because he has to drive 15 miles from Rebisi Diobu just to see Bonny River.

The best he can hope for is to buy the fish from those who live by the sea and fish in it. . . or perhaps he can barter some yams in exchange for fish, like igbo boy's grandfather used to do. . . otherwise, no protein in his diet. grin

Some people don't know that the first officialy recognized Igbo dialect was Bonny Igbo, spoken by the Bonny people of Igbo origin. It was recognized even before Central Igbo. So let's ask if Bopnny is a partly Igbo town.
