Kanu could be set to play for
Portsmouth against Cardiff
City this weekend after the
club revealed they are close
to resolving a contract
dispute with the player.
The former Arsenal striker
has yet to make an
appearance for Portsmouth
this season due to the
wrangle.
His availability would be a
huge boost to manager Steve
Cotterill, who has had to field
the club's youngsters in what
has been a poor start to
Championship life for the
cash-strapped club.
Administrator Andrew
Andronikou told The News:
"We are hopeful of
announcing something about
Kanu.
"All things being equal, we
could have him registered
and playing on Saturday.
"The manager and the player
get on very well, it has just
been a case of solving the
contract issue."
The Nigerian scored the
winning goal between the
clubs in the FA Cup final in
2008 when Porstmouth beat
Cardiff 1-0.
