Taking apple cider vinegar for heartburn relief is quite simple. Drink this immediately after each meal. If your problem is acid reflux, and you have just had a heavy meal, increase the amount of apple cider vinegar and decrease the amount of water.

1. Measure 2 teaspoons of ACV into an 8 ounce glass of water. Mix thoroughly. Add a teaspoon of honey, or more to taste.

4. Increase the amount of apple cider vinegar to 2 tablespoons to 8 ounces of water if your heartburn is severe.

5. DO NOT mix the ACV with any carbonated beverages. Carbonated water and sodas have a known negative effects on the stomach and can drastically increase heartburn in those that are susceptible. You're basically defeating any advantages of the ACV by mixing the two. There is a belief that the carbonation, which causes release of stomach gas through burping, helps with the heartburn or GERD symptoms, but it can also cause stomach acid to splash up the esophagus, thereby causing more damage. Stick to water, or other non-carbonated liquids to take the ACV.
