Balewa’s Fake Son Is Yoruba

Jhalil Tafawa Balewa, the man who claimed to be the son of Nigeria’s first Prime Minister, Tafawa Balewa, has been exposed as not only a name dropper but also from Yoruba.

•Jelili a.k.a Jhalil.

The real name of the man, who was campaigning for President Goodluck Jonathan for the 2011 presidential election, is Jelili and not Jhalil that he claims to bear.

P.M.NEWS gathered from reliable sources this morning that the man comes from Ibadan, the Oyo State capital in South-West Nigeria.
Sources said he has been using the revered Tafawa Balewa name to con people in the last ten years; using the name to penetrate into the corridors of power where he rubs shoulders with the high and mighty.
Jelili, according to our sources, exploited his closeness to the wife of President Jonathan, Patience, to curry favour in Aso Rock.
There is suspicion that he might have arranged his kidnap to draw attention to himself, considering his track record as a con artist. But the kidnap incident has backfired.
Three years ago, the Balewa family disowned him publicly but he persisted in his name dropping until the recent kidnap episode. The Balewa family has again distanced itself from the man.
“He is not one of us,” Saddik Abubakar Tafawa Balewa told the BBC, after the operation to rescue Jhalil.

“He is neither the nephew, neither the son, neither the grandson of my father,” the fourth son of the late Sir Abubakar said.
“I am sorry to hear of anyone being kidnapped, but the time has come to be clear.”
He said he spoke on behalf of the family: “He is not a member of our family, either by blood or by marriage.”
He described how the Balewas had met the man several times, trying to establish his identity.

“We first heard of a person from America, going around the corridors of power, claiming to be a grandson. After that, he said he was a son,” he remembers.
The family say they repeatedly asked for evidence, including DNA evidence, but none has been forthcoming.
Saddik Tafawa Balewa declined to speculate further, saying only: “We, as a family, feel exploited.”

In 2008, the extended Balewa clan took out newspaper advertisements distancing themselves from Jhalil Tafawa Balewa.
He leads “Goodluck na Kowa”, meaning Goodluck For All in Hausa, the language of the country’s north.

Nigeria: Vocal supporter of president kidnapped

ABUJA, Nigeria (AP) — Nigerian police said Sunday that kidnappers have seized a man who claims be to the son of the nation's first prime minister.

Police spokesman Moshood Jimoh told the Associated Press that kidnappers seized Dr. Jhalil Tafawa Balewa. Mr. Jimoh said police shot one kidnapper and arrested another.

The spokesman declined to say whether Dr. Tafawa Balewa was freed after the firefight.

Dr. Tafawa Balewa, 60, says he is the son of Abubakar Tafawa Balewa, Nigeria's first prime minister, who was killed in the country's 1966 coup. The Tafawa Balewa family disowned Jhalil in 2008, claiming he wasn't a son. It wasn't immediately clear if the man kidnapped was the same Jhalil.

Dr. Tafawa Balewa also is an organizer of a group called Goodluck Nakowa, which supports President Goodluck Jonathan's possible bid in next year's presidential election. Mr. Jonathan has yet to say whether he'll run.

Kidnappings have grown increasingly common in Nigeria, an oil-rich country of 150 million people where most live on less than $1 a day.

Are there any biological children of Balewa alive? If so, then a simple paternity test should resolve this.

Any Yoruba who want's to be ibo should have his head examined.

I don't see the point of emphasizing that he is Yoruba. A con man can be from any ethnic group. I think it's wrong to make it sound like it is a Yoruba thing to be a con man.

@ Aigbofa I really support you on this , any yoruba who claims igbo heritage and name should not only be examined but executed , particularly those that were caught carrying drugs and in Visa scams.

I would rather prefer not to have any identity  than to be an ibo man,  everything about an ibo man is negative, an average ibo man can kill his father and mother for money, even using both for money rituals, to confirm if an ibo man is truely dead you will need to place N20 note in his mouth to confirm if truelly he is dead so there is noting fascinating  becoming an ibo, ibos are the most neglected and unrecognised tribe in Nigeria today

I asked because the true paternity of the alleged fake Balewa could be determined from the DNA of his ( balewa's ) biological children.

I will ignore your vacuous slight.

As you know in the deepest part of your mind if the Igbo were to leave Lagos the remainig Lagosians would be forced to trekk from V/I to Ipaja. You people would trekk to Alaigbo within three days to beg us to come back and sell you spare parts for your cars.

Watch how some funny derailed the thread.

The fact is why impersonate the another person whom u despise , and if these igbos are that bad like some people claim , how come the same people will shed the last drop of their blood when igbos talk of leaving nigeria.

Really, yaribas never cease to amaze the world , you go about claiming igbos are these and that and the only thing you can do about it is for your people in govt to stop biafran agitators.

Could this be hatred driven out of complex of hatred out of fear.

Yaribas never talk of leaving nigeria , but at the mention of the name of biafra their knees melt.

Is it Yaribas, Yorubas, Jurubas. Which one is correct, as I see different spellings everyday.

Well, dont start screaming "Eureka" yet! This is the test usually done to see if youre really a son of the Bearded one:

1. They ask who your best friend is.

2. They ask you if he has a daughter;preferably if ure 30 yrs or more apart in age. . . .

3. They bring the little gal to ur presence and if u get turned on and eager to marry her, well, u know the answer. . . . . . .

For those of you who like to misspell Yoruba, it is not what you call us that matters, It is what we answer to.
And we only answer to Yoruba, unlike some people who answer ibo today, then tomorrow  it's eebo, Hebrew, jew, igbo, congolese, etc. So many names you don't really know what to call them!
