A Sunday Times report has revealed that Nigeria's representative on the World Cup hosting 24-man-strong FIFA committee, Amos Adamu, offered to sell his votes in the contest to host the 2018 World Cup.

The popular UK sunday newspaper has a video footage showing Adamu requesting for  £500,000 for "a project" in return for his support to an unammed country.

The football world body will decide the country that would host the 2018 and 2022 world cup on December 2nd 2010.

Amos Adamu in £500,000 bribery scandal
A newspaper video footage has shown a Fifa executive committee member, Amos Adamu asking for £500,000 to sell his vote for the 2018 World Cup bid.

The footage, filmed by undercover Sunday Times journalists, shows Adamu wanting money to be paid to him directly for endorsing a bid.

In the video, Adamu was asked whether the money for a "private project" would have an effect on the way he voted, he replied: "Obviously, it will have an effect. Of course it will. Because certainly if you are to invest in that, that means you also want the vote."

Fifa has so far not responded to the allegations.

Cecilia Ibru is in the hospital instead of jail long enough she would not remember her name when she comes out. Why won't Amos Adamu be selling his vote.

We really need to do something drastic about these thieves!

What a terrible disgrace! I watched the bush man asking for the money on TV. What a massive disgrace!
This is what FIFA wants to protect by suspending countries that tamper with their football associations. GEJ must face them down and eject any corrupt people in our football.

Am shocked.if this is true it is a big shame.this man is rich by any standard,he went on tv to say that?
GEJ should not listen to the garbage FIFA is saying:stupid laws of their's that apply to certain countrie's,why did they not suspend france?they did not even say a word after the initial warning to france not to tamper with their own team!who the f*cking f*ck doe's FIFA think it is?
NFA official's mismanaged money and when taken to court they had the gut's to say that the court don't have the jurisdiction to hear them!a nigerian court and they live and earn their wage's here!!they should be charged for contempt of the court and thrown in jail for that insult on the court.
FIFA can go burn itself up for all I care.rubbish organization with senseless rule's.

so what did he mean by the word 'project'? Was he trying to line his pocket or soliciting for a developmental 'project' in return for Ngr's support?

He didn't go on TV, he was secretly filmed and the video broadcast on Sky news. He looked like a fool and sat like a bushman; its such a pity we have such clowns representing us. You should see the video, the man had all the grace of someone lethargically milking cows behind a hut.

@James1, please what are the senseless FIFA rules you refer to? On this particular issue, you may need to watch the video first and then judge (check BBC website).

Isn't it ironical that this same dude set up a commission to investigate corruption in Nigerian football about 2 years ago?. . . .

The Nigeria Sports Commission (NSC) has set up an six-man inquiry team to investigate allegations of corruption in the local league.
The NSC is the Nigerian equivalent of the sports ministry.
The inquiry is a response to comments from former Kano Pillars coach Kadiri Ikhana.

In May just a few days after leading Kano Pillars to the Nigerian title Ikhana announced he was quitting the game in the country because of what he alleges is a "corrupt system."
Former Nigeria Football Association chairman Dominic Oneya heads up the team, which has been giving 18 working days to investigate the allegations and make any recommendations.

The director general of the NSC, Amos Adamu said: "The NSC thought it very wise that we should investigate these allegations of corruption.
"It is an opportunity we are giving to Nigerians, coaches, club owners, football administrators to come out and specifically mention how much corruption is in our football.

"We have a coach who has come out boldly to say he is tired of football because of corruption.
"Let them give us the details.
"We can assure you that any one that we can prove a case of corruption against will not have anything to do with football again, no matter highly placed that person is," said Adamu, who is also an executive member of both Fifa and Caf.
Adamu warned that while anyone found culpable would be punished, those making baseless claims would also face the music.
"Fifa, world football's governing body, does not condone corruption, but on the other hand it does not condone blackmail either," he added.

I saw the news on Yahoo!
Two officials were reported asking for "kola"
The one from Oceania wanted a sports complex built in his country Tahiti, while our own dear Amos wanted the cash directly into his pocket.
What can I say sad
A bad tree never fails to yield bad fruit. Another evidence that Nigeria as we know it is evil, and won't last long.
However this Amos man got to where he is, in a position to represent Nigeria must be condemned.
Can't we do better

FIFA are considering postponing the decision on the 2018 and 2022 World Cups as they investigate allegations that two senior members offered to sell their votes.

Although some members are insistent the vote should go ahead on December 2 as planned, Press Association Sport understands that a postponement is being talked about in senior circles of the world governing body.

England, Russia, Spain/Portugal and Holland/Belgium are bidding for the 2018 World Cup while USA, Australia, Qatar, Japan and South Korea are campaigning to host the 2022 tournament.

FIFA's ethics committee will this week start investigations on a Sunday Times expose of two members of FIFA's 24-man executive committee, Amos Adamu from Nigeria and Tahiti's Reynald Temarii, president of the Oceania Football Confederation.

Reporters from the newspaper posed as English-based lobbyists for a consortium of private American companies who wanted to help secure the World Cup for the United States.

At an initial meeting in London, Adamu is said to have told reporters that he wanted $800,000 to build four artificial football pitches in his home country.

Temarii is also alleged to have asked for a payment, in his case to finance a sports academy.

When contacted by Press Association Sport, Adamu refused to comment. Temarii was unavailable for comment.

A statement from FIFA read: "FIFA and the FIFA ethics committee have closely monitored the bidding process for the 2018 and 2022 FIFA World Cups and will continue to do so.

"FIFA has already requested to receive all of the information and documents related to this matter, and is awaiting to receive this material.

"In any case, FIFA will immediately analyse the material available and only once this analysis has concluded will FIFA be able to decide on any potential next steps.

"In the meantime, FIFA is not in a position to provide any further comments on this matter."

The Oceania Football Confederation today announced they were investigating the reports.

A statement said: "OFC is aware of the story that appeared in The Sunday Times in England today. As such, OFC is currently looking into the matter."

Adamu told the Sunday Times he had been talking about business in Nigeria after the World Cup and insisted his vote was not for sale.

A European nation will definitely host the 2018 World Cup after the USA announced on Friday they would focus on 2022 alone.

Look at people who take their dignity as a nation seriously. In Nigeria's case we have to go through the following steps:

1. Does EFCC or ICPC have the constitutional powers to probe Adamu, since his act was non-territorial to the Nigerian nation?
2. Will FIFA ban us again for interfering in Nigerian football if we probe Adamu?
3. Which godfathers & godmothers would this offend if Adamu is dragged before the courts?
4. Which disease is Adamu going to pretend so as not to go to prison if he is eventually convicted of a crime?
5. Is soliciting/requesting/accepting a bribe even a crime in Nigeria?

Each of these will take at least 1 year to resolve, by which time all is swept under the carpet and forgotten. End game: Adamu resurfaces as the governor of his state!

And so? How much do you guys  think that criminal called Blatter would have asked for? Adamu's problem is that his low IQ made him demand for it in the crudest nigerian way. Fifa is fraud, Blatter  is answerable almost to no one.

When we  said all these guys managing our football are corrupt , Fifa  flashed their useless "Interference" card. Now lets see how they handle this.

Bye the way, do diplomatic and foreign representatives of Nigeria cast such votes with directives from Abuja or not?
I believe that if Abuja had instructed him to cast our vote for candidate X, it would have been imposible for him to cast it for candidate Y without a serious explanation.
Does getting directives from Abuja constitute "interference"?
