6 Iranians arrested over seized ammunition
By CHRISTOPHER ORJI and CHIOMA IGBOKWE with agency report
Saturday, October 30, 2010

Six Iranians were yesterday arrested at Medina Estate, Gbagada, Lagos, in connection with the arm and ammunition discovered in 13 shipping containers in Lagos recently. They were arrested in the compound of one Alhaja Soyibat Mogaji, who owns a factory, where the Iranians work.
Saturday Sun gathered that plain clothe security men, who effected the arrest, also took some documents after ransacking the entire building.

Before the Iranians were arrested, one of the security operatives believed to be a member of the State Security Service (SSS) was heard shouting on top of his voice: “You have been indicted in the imported explosives saga; you are to come with us and explain yourselves, ”

The whereabouts of the Iranian nationals is not yet known, as the 85-year-old Mogaji, who boycotted yesterday’s Jumat over the arrest in his premises has expressed fear over the fate of her workers.
According to a reliable police source, the arrest was based on series of petitions written by clearing agents that the Iranians may have a hand in the importation of those arms and ammunitions,

Meanwhile, security has been beefed up at the port, as Inspector General of Police, Mr. Hafiz Ringim, has ordered the stationing of anti-bomb unit and joint military patrol permanently there. There were slow activities at the port yesterday, as people were afraid of possible explosion and arrest by the police.
Also, security has been beefed up at the borders. Vehicles coming into Nigeria from neighbouring countries, like Ghana, Togo, Cote d’Ivoire through Seme are thoroughly searched before being allowed entry.

In a related development, agency report in Jerusalem said that the discovery could signify that Iran is trying to develop a new route to smuggle arms and explosives to Hamas in the Gaza Strip, defence officials said.
According to agency report, Iran has been known to use ports in Sudan and Eritrea to unload weaponry and then take same over land, via Egypt, to the Philadelphi Corridor – the 14-kilometer strip of land between Egypt and the Gaza Strip – where the weaponry is then smuggled by tunnels to Hamas.

The largest rocket appeared to be a 107-mm. Katyusha, which Iran is known to manufacture and which makes up the backbone of Hezbollah and Hamas’ arsenals.
The authorities said that it was possible the discovery of the arms and ammunitions in Nigeria means Iran has abandoned the Sudanese route, due to the difficulty it has encountered in operating in the Red Sea, under international surveillance.
Agency report has it that Israel also operates throughout the Red Sea, revealing last year that navy submarines and missile ships regularly passed through the Suez Canal to the Red Sea for operations.

Earlier this week, IDF Chief of General Staff, Lt.-Gen. Gabi Ashkenazi, said that the navy’s elite commando unit Flotilla 13 – known as the Shayetet – had recently conducted an operation “far away from Israel.”
He said that if Iran were using Nigeria as a port, it would also entail a major logistical operation to facilitate the transfer of the weapons by land from Nigeria, Chad, and Sudan and then via Egypt.
In January 2009, Israel reportedly bombed a convoy of trucks that was carrying advanced weaponry destined for Gaza, as it was travelling through the Sudanese desert.

The story is getting more interesting. I wish, they are able to get to the root of this. Those arms are just too much.

Please try post this on his site at FACEBOOK. Iran, and their likes can never be a good nation's friend. You need to see how some useless morons and stupid northeners queued the street of Aso Rock, with different banners welcoming the idiot, when he came to Nigeria. In fact, one particular poster amazed me! "we are fully in support of you, and are ready to fight the West with you to a stand still". What a shame!

This I am telling you happen this very year. I saw them with my eyes. In fact, I stand corrected, this was one of the first official assignments embacked on by Jonathan, on assumption of office, as The President of this nation. The morons came from nearly all the northern states, of the federation, with different inscriptions on their buses. They stayed there till 10pm, on the very first day, just to welcome the Iranian leader. The 2nd day was very chaotic. Different inscriptions like, "you represent the true picture of a true Muslim and not like our coward brothers in Mecca" were displayed. Very many unprintable banners!.

To all the scoffers, if u're ahmedinajad and u get that kind of reception, wont you like to annex the country to Iran, just like Hezbollah in Lebanon, Hamas in Gaza and the shiite in Iraq.
I hope our security agencies wise up quickly!  angry

The unspoken rules with debates like this are as follows:

When ever Iran is in the spotlight for doing something bad, blame the CIA, Western-Zionist regime and Call out something Israel did years ago as a justification.

Blame it on all part of the nu-world order to destroy us all and take over the world.

Ignore the fact that Islam may be one of the reasons.

Oh, and if anyone tries to point out the obvious, go all out and discredit the person while drawing attention away from the subject at hand.

You see, these are just a few of the unwritten rules and conduct posters like him abide by. undecided

It's a pity that the majority of nigerian don't know the strategic position of nigeria in international geopolitics, and the international culture and dominance. That is why if nigerian is not careful we will be the Congo(DR) of the 21st century, because the the world was in a battle of ideology between the freemarket(west) and socialist(east) in the 20th century but today what we are having is a clash of civilazations and the world is gradually turning to be a battle between western based culture societies and eastern based societies. And nigeria is a very vital cultural projection point in subsaharan africa thus the battle for the soul of nigeria.

If this is true then nigeria is the battle field because the north and west nigeria holds the worlds eastern culture while east nigeria and some western region inculding south south holds the world western culrure.

I am not so sure I buy his point. In every culture, there is always a fine divide. You will have parties adopting and embracing different values, culture and view etc. I think it is too broad of an idea to say Naija na battle ground. Same logic applies to anywhere there are humans because we will continue to be different.
