The Federal Government has pledged to support local manufacturers across the country. Vice President Yemi Osibanjo stated this in Abuja during the 6th Annual General Meeting of the Manufacturer Association of Nigeria (MAN) Abuja branch, comprising Nasarawa, Niger and the FCT.

“We must do everything within our power to support local manufacturers to achieve the required level of quality and scale in their operations to compete and thrive effectively,” he said. Represented by the Managing Director, Bank of Industry, Olukayode Pitan, Osinbajo cited the recent border closure as one of the measures to protect local manufacturers.

Also speaking, the Minister for State Trade and Investment, Ambassador Maryam Katagum, said the ministry through its relevant agencies would ensure more access to affordable and available finance for the sector.

The best way to support local manufacturers is to build both physical and intangible infrastructure.. Physical infrastructure like Good road network,Rail network,Power etc. Intangible like Investment in R& D,Finance and Policy

Its only people that like fairy tales that will believe all those propaganda BS.

The major problem with this government policies is that they don't use Value Chain Approach method.

Banning of imported manufactured product is a short term solution to a long term problem.

I will give a practical example and probably those that have real business will learn from it.

A client of mine produces Processed Garri recently Golden Penny entered into the market and crash the price so we did a research on how to scale the product we find out unique. packaging will give an edge so we gave packaging guys in Nigeria the design they gave us N350 per one , we send the design to China they gave us N170 per one (Including logistics down to Lagos).

As a rational Business man which one will you choose? Hence the reason I said economics doesn't care about patriotism.

The difference in the above price helped the company to charge a competitive price and scale a bit.

Until we build a good infrastructure both tangible and intangible no matter what the government ban local entrepreneurs will find way to scale
