Aight, I'm actually being real here, and not foolish in asking this question. I know that there are actually quite a few African guys who have married or date with the intention of marrying an AA girl, for the sol purpose of getting citizenship and or other ludicrous intentions in mind and I'm sure most of you'all are of aware of this as well. Though at the same time it would be foolish to ignore the counter fact of that their are many and growing fast, unions between these two groups in which are actually genuinely formed in the minds and intentions of both the involved individuals, and it is these whom I care to focus on. Well, I first want to say that I've noticed an ever increasing number of YOUNG African and Caribbean guys whom are choosing to date/marry AA women over their own, which I personally have absolutely no problem with. I just would like to know if any of you have any insight as to why it is you think so many more African men are hitching it up with AA gals these days and at such an continuous expanding rate? |

The same as to why alot of Black American men/women marry Caucasians, Asians or Hispanics. Sadly, I do believe that there are some men who specifically seeks out to marry for only the intentions of getting their"green card" and/or for many other selfish reasons. Judge not, for ye will be judged. You can not sin in this body and think their is no repercussions that comes tags alone with it. What you do in this body, you have to pay for what you did in your body. Vengeance is the Lord. BUT, then there are some African men who are genuinely seeking a loving, loyal faithful wife who possess the qualities he is looking for in a woman. Then if she happens to be a "African American" then so be it. To be honest, being a African American woman I see way more "mixed" couples and marriages than I do the same race or cultures where I live. To each it's own. I've dated outside of my race before and it's no big deal to me. A man is still a man and I love them all. I don't discriminate. That is why I am currently engaged to a genuinely loving and caring African man. Sadly, with this world being as corrupt, judgemental and imperfect as it is, some don't feel the same way. You just have to be careful, use your God given common sense before hooking up with someone. Take the time to get to know them, make sure they add to your life, not take away. When in a doubt, because sometimes "love" or intense emotions could cloud your judgement. This is when thee should diligently seek the kingdom of God for assurance and guidance. You should always keep God first in whatever you do and in your life and you won't go wrong. Many people just jump head first over a cute face, tight body a fat bank account or/and desperation and don't know what evil lurks within. That is why it's always good to keep a good relationship with God, and whatever is not meant to be in your life won't be no matter how hard you try and what IS meant to be WILL be. |

DaRapture:I think this is a fascinating topic. Unfortunately, I have heard of Nigerian men that marry these women for the sole purpose of getting citizenship, but I don't know if those men are more the exception than the norm. I do know of a few Nigerian men married to African American women who are genuinely good husbands. I hope we can hear more from these good men to dispel the bad ones. |

I need a white chick, cause I split up with my nigerian fiancee because of too much home video sh*t (I am not a catholic, I am not from the same tribe, her brother didnt like me, etc) It was real bleeped up cause I loved her so much, I dont even watch Nigerian Movies cause of all of that ish, so Imagine how I felt acting one!!! I just need someone to love me for me. I want to marry a woman, not her whole family. |

You answered your OWN question, for a Green Card! And there's that remote possibility that some of these guys and ladies actually love each other, but usually its for the benefit of the African man. Honestly, from some of the deplorable living conditions I've seen in Africa, well, I'll just say, I understand. I don't condone one human being taking advantage of another, but I understand! |

Aloha I am a women of polynesian ancestry from the island of Hawaii. Years ago the Hawaiian islands were taken from its people and our Queen had been locked up in her own palace & land unfortunately history should be re-written for my people along with including the truth available for all. Today we remain the 50th USA state. My incite to your question are as follows; Presently I am in love with a Nigerian man for almost 2 1/2 yrs now. I cant say it was a perfect start but over the years we have had to work through it. From what I have gathered ( I too had ask him the same question for myself), I am from another country/state why me? I too am familiar with the scams i've heard about from this country and have heard more from my fiancee however there are scams throughout the world. I feel in love with my fiance with his mannerisim and beliefs system as well as family values and standards he set forth for himself as well as his being god fearing. I dont worry about a green card for when true love is involve a person is able to answer all questions truthfully. Why should we worry about his gains for what he gains WE gain together. My Nigerian man is prideful and wants to care for the family so if he choose to leave his country to open the way for a better life for all the family, why not as long as he follows the laws set forth. Some men may think I want to be with American women because of the lifestyle which may be easier and or its less drama however being with an American women could mean less culture to adhere too because she is not African women nor is she accustomed to his culture. It may just be easier for some and if it takes being with an American women well ofcourse who would not want tbe easier method. Nigeria is a developing country unlike Ghana and or Lagos. Nigeria has a bad reputation for things that occur as like anywhere else im the world however due to propoganda they stand out...In Nigeria possibly a person may want to rid of all its drama due it infrastructure and politicians who dont always see what effects its people due to disloyalty and greed however we have this happening all over the world. I once upon a time did not care for an African man and today I think so differently. I have a assertive intelligent man who is very loving to include sincer caring from the heart and takes love seriously, very family oriented and what I take for granted he does not. He is vocal with his thoughts and gives room for improvements and I am able to speak what I think. |
