Barcelona midfielder Andres Iniesta is focused only on tomorrow's Primera Division clash with Almeria despite all the hype surrounding next Monday's 'Clasico' against Real Madrid at the Nou Camp.
All the talk among football fans and press in Spain has been about Barca's meeting with Jose Mourinho's Madrid at the end of this month, but Pep Guardiola's side must first negotiate a tricky trip to struggling Almeria.

"For me, the Almeria game is the most important one,'' Iniesta said.

"It is not difficult to isolate ourselves from the 'Clasico' - our obligation is to focus on the next match.''

Iniesta has seen team-mates Xavi and Carles Puyol rack up 500 appearances for the Catalan club and the midfielder, a hugely popular figure among the Barcelona faithful, says he wants to finish his career at the Nou Camp.

"I want to get to 500 games for Barca like Xavi and Puyol,'' said the Spain star, who has already appeared well over 300 times for the Catalan club.

"It would be a dream to finish my career here.''

Meanwhile, Iniesta hopes team-mate Dani Alves will sign a new deal to stay at the Nou Camp.

Reports this week suggested the Brazil right-back was set to leave after failing to reach an agreement with the Catalan outfit, but Iniesta says Barca need to hang on to the player, who he describes as one of the club's best-ever signings.

"I hope Alves will stay with us. He is the number one in his position (in the world) and he has been one of the best signings in the club's history,'' he said.

Gerard Pique has been struggling with a slight hamstring problem and is doubtful for the match against Almeria.

The Spain defender missed Barca's 3-1 win over Villarreal last weekend through suspension after he was shown the red card in the win at Getafe a week earlier.

However, the former Manchester United centre-back is just one yellow card away from another ban and a booking against Almeria would see him suspended for the 'Clasico'.

Under those circumstances, Guardiola may decide to rest the 23 year-old, although the club's other recognised central defender, Gabriel Milito, is sidelined, and full-back Eric Abidal, an admirable stand-in against Villarreal, also misses out.

Guardiola, whose side currently sit a point behind leaders Madrid, comes up against his friend and mentor Juanma Lillo tomorrow.

The Barca coach finished his playing career at Mexican club Dorados, having been persuaded to move there by Lillo, and the two share footballing philosophies.

Nevertheless, the two coaches have very different playing personnel at their disposal and Lillo admits his side are likely to be on the back foot tomorrow.

"Against Barcelona you don't play how you want to play; you play however you can,'' he said yesterday.

"The important thing is to take advantage of what they allow you to do.''

Almeria have won just once in the Primera Division all season and sit in 18th place with just nine points from their 11 matches.

Defeat against Barcelona could spell the end for Lillo, who took over from Hugo Sanchez at the end of 2008 and steered the club to safety last season.

Hernan Pellerano and Miguel Angel Nieto are sidelined for Almeria, while Albert Crusat is doubtful.

Almeria sack coach Lillo after Barca thrashing

The club said on its website the decision was taken right after the match at Juegos Mediterraneos Stadium due to "the poor results in the last rounds of the championship." The loss left Almeria rooted in the bottom three of the Primera Division with just one win and nine points from their opening 12 games.

Lillo did recently guide Almeria into the last-16 of the Copa del Rey, though, his side beating La Liga rivals Real Sociedad home and away to record a 5-3 aggregate victory.

The 45-year-old took over as coach of Almeria last December following the sacking of Hugo Sanchez and helped the Andalusian side finish the campaign in 13th place.

if i may ask u,what is d essence of having league competitions? Is it nt to have a representative dat will compete effectively wit representatives of other leagues.i can tell u dat spanish r doing dat very well. Not to forget also they r d world n european champions. For the fact dat madrid n barca dominate d league doesn't mean dat it sucks.and for ur info, there are other exciting matches apart 4rm madrid/barca matches.la liga is only for the best players n that is a fact.

arsenal have never finished below fourth position since you startd watchin footie. And in that time, they have won the EPL -not once, not twice. We finished 3rd in d league last time,so we are actually contenders.

La liga is crap? How then do you explain Arsenal that were unbeaten in the EPL being eliminated by Valencia in the champions league? Or a Villareal who in their first ever champions league appearance made it to the semis and took Arsenal down the wire?
That Barcelona won 8-0 doesnt mean the La liga is crap, it only shows the strength of Barca.
Messi retired Del Horno from Chelsea, scored against United and single handedly wrecked Arsenal. I can only imagine what he will do to the likes of Wigan and Blackburn.

Laliga sucks! There is no competition, cos the league is meant only for Barca and Madrid.I can't wait for the clash b/w pep and Jose. Its the only match that worths watching in laliga.Oh boy!thats why I'm in luv with the english premiership. There is competition till the final day.No team is invincinble in english premier league. Can't you see how kids are maltreating Chelsea? grin Thats competition!

i think u are d biggest clown here. Its fools like dat base their assumptions n argument on single line.4 d fact dat almeria were beaten 8-0 in their home doesn't mean they r not expected 2 lose n u such manner.Afterall, they played against d best team in d world.Stop basing ur retarded claim on epl, make out time n watch other leagues n u'l see 4 ur self.la liga is 4 d best n d best players want 2 play in la liga.its a fact.
