At first,I am really annoyed with some posters here trying to insult one another.Some are just funny and for the purpose of making a joke they unknowingly hurt someone but they wouldn't know until you tell them.But,Later I learned to ignore and go on reading and posting.

Why Are Nairalanders So Insultive And Abusive?

No home traning for some; lack of shame; anonymity; crazies.  I post sporadically and sometime take extended breaks between visits.  I can imagine people who hang around a lot get disillusioned.  If you look at some posters, when they first registered, they'd be posting "oh let's all sing kumbaya - we're all Africans - let's just get along."  Before long, they start emulating the people they complained about the most and take up the mantle of tribe-bashing and other appalling behavior.  It is odd.  But it is a popular site, if Alexa and Google are to be believed.  As long as that trend continues, the mods and the owner aren't going to rock the boat.

Still, it's just the internet.  Not much you can do, but grow a thick skin, or get out into the real world more and more.

you'd always meet [i]a[/i]rseholes in life, learn to deal with that, and if you don't like that they insult you, simply ignore them, afterall you don't know them, why give a rat's árse what they think?

When I got in here initially, I was a kinda gentle, but now, if one insult me, I'll fire back like mad! I do enjoy the fight. But after fighting at length with a person, I'll ignore such a person. It's fun really.

Insults brings mixed feelings. Poster enjoy the insult while it lasts.

I was just going to post this topic until I saw someone already had the good sense to do so. Anonymity is no excuse for uncouth behaviour. If you do not like what someone has posted, please move on. You can even express your 'dislike' in a civil manner.

Many folks out there with useful info are usually dissuaded from posting by this unfortunate trend. I just finished reading a post by a young lady who read of Adekeye Rahman's plight in the dailies and decided to post the story as a way of helping the young lady in question. She was bombarded with insults.

Being polite will cost you nothing. Your insults are robbing honest people who need help and information, so please stop.
