That is why the Nigerian Pidgin Primer was constructed in partnership with Mercy Christian Ministry international and Literacy and Evangelism international (LEI) Tulsa Oklahoma , After the construction of the primer and d pidgin alphabets, it was standardized at a workshop organized by Late Prof Kay Williamson at University of Ibadan, It was at that workshop that pidgin authorities standardized it, You can download d pidgin primer at

Standardization or Complication? Imagine market women trying to fix these things together to understand. I think the Professor missed a point here. The reason why people speak pidgin because it is difficult to speak and even to write to original english. Now instead of him to simplify it, he further complicated the language. I think written Hausa language is even far too simple to read and understand than what he has there

Furthermore, language speech and writing evolve over a long period of time, therefore it a smack of providence for a professor to just decide to standardise a language.

Of course it is correct to say that NPL alphabet and orthography is similar to Yoruba language orthography.  It is also similar to Igbo, Hausa, and other Nigerian orthographies. It is additionally similar to Cameroon Pidgin orthography.

But Nigerian Pidgin Language (NPL) orthography is not the same as the orthographies of these languages.
