Taiwo Adewole was one of the three Nigerian youths who met with President Barack Obama last August for the African Youth Leadership Forum. He is the winner of the Rehab Plus Innovation, a United Kingdom International competition for Africa-2006, was also nominated by the International Biographical Centre, England for the 2007 Scientist of the year and selected among the “Top 100 of Our Generations’. An independent environmentalist, he hosted the 2007 World Environment Day in Nigeria co-sponsored by the Lagos State Ministry of Environment. He is a renowned environmental consultant with several years of broad-range experience in the industry, Taiwo Adewole is presently the Chief Executive Officer of Taiwo Adewole and Associates Limited. In this interview with Chika Uwazie, a contributor to the Nigerian Eagle discusses the critical issues that are affecting Nigeria and its citizens.



What factors in the country do you think are causing its financial corruption among the Upper class?

Adewole: The greatest problem is leadership. Are there any leaders in Nigeria today with clean hand? Just name any leaders that have a clean hand in Nigeria, that is why you find out that the people ruling this country in the last 50 yrs are less than 50 people out of the 150 million people in Nigeria. How many leaders can come out openly to say that they want to probe the past leaders including past ministers? How many of their children school in Nigeria? How many of them receive medical treatment in Nigeria?

What do you think about the Nigerian Government creating better funded, free public secondary education?
