Should Nigeria Have Part-time Law Makers? by Nsiman(m): 11:29am On Dec 02, 2010
Reactions are coming out from nigeria's apex bank gov'nor - Mr. Sanusi and minister of finance - Mr. Aganga, on F. G's huge expences on nigeria's law makers. Is it worth for nigeria to have part-time law makers so as to reduce huge expenses on our legislature? This means that nigeria's law makers shall be paid per sitting.

Even if a part time legislative arrangement is made, Nigerians always know how to modify any circumstance to their advantage. You will be surprised that at the end of the day, they'll end up making more money than being full time lawmakers.

Realistically though, i do not think a part time arrangement will work out afterall the thought of a PART TIME PRESIDENT is almost unthinkable!

Having part time lawmakers is not d ultimate but repackaging/rebranding of oneself. This can only be well achieved if everybodi changes his/her altitude in Nigeria. If they are being paid per sitting and as well mind is currupt. Do u all think a square will be able to fit in a round hole?

Re: Should Nigeria Have Part-time Law Makers? by Nsiman(m): 12:53pm On Dec 02, 2010
@ bluetooth, if u scrap the legislature, it will result to fusion of the arms of govt and it becomes parliamentary not federal system of govt.

In naija, when you add the present executive to the present legislature to form a parliamentary system, the end result will be very disastrous.

What we need is not part time legislature but just to harmonize their payroll. I really don't know who should be responsible for this but what we need is to for synchronize their pay both salaries and allowances at a percentage of the National minimum wage. This will definitely make it unattractive and thus will give room for true leaders who have the mind for service to the pple, Plle who want to write their names in Gold in the history of Humanity to assume positions.
Re: Should Nigeria Have Part-time Law Makers? by Nobody: 1:26pm On Dec 02, 2010

They should be paid by the state they are representing and at the basic level since they will be working part time.

Re: Should Nigeria Have Part-time Law Makers? by juliebest(f): 2:33am On Dec 03, 2010
YES OOO Also there should be only one senator per state and 2 house of rep members per state. Else let the salaries of the current number of legislators be halved.

At last Nigerians are becoming responsible people. We truly need part time lawmakers who earn the same salary as professors with no allowance attached be it sitting or standing allowance.
