IgbereTV captured a video showing a student of the Federal Girls College Akure destroying her phone and those of her schoolmates under the supervision of her teacher.

According to IgbereTV reports, the students violated the rules of the school by bringing their phones to school and as punishment, one of them was asked to destroy all the phones during the school’s morning assembly.

Why not by a teacher or even burning it. Why subject a student to such task.

It is because of people like you I refused to join the military. See how you're judging the case from two paragraphs and a 30 second video that explains next to nothing. I for find you and flog sense into your synapses.

As a parent, I use my hard earned money that I worked tirelessly for to buy a phone for my child so as to track him or her in this evil world we live in. That child defies school rules and takes it to school. The school finds it and asks my child to destroy it in front of the whole school under duress with a camera in front of her. I don't have this information but then I wake up to see the video on Nairaland frontpage, bros, people go die.

All of you quoting me are very mad hypocrites. If you read my comment well, you would see that I'm mad because the girl was videotaped and had it posted on the internet. None of you, I repeat, none of you would allow your child to be exposed on the internet for anything at all except for funny viral videos they post by themselves or by you, the parent. I would sue to school to court and win. Yes, the child broke the rules in school just like all you dumbass hypocrites insulting me did but I'd like to see where it is stated in print that such punishment will be the result of bringing a phone to school. Dumb lot. Na why SARS dey slap slap una all over town because you don't know your rights.Thunder strikes the next person who quotes me spewing bullshit

Mehn, people have really lost it. Abi do your brains have coronavirus or you've been smoking Colorado? Will it kill them to seize the phone for the rest of the term or even the rest of the school year? Truth is the child will be more remorse than this nonsense all of you mad people are supporting. Are you people insane how can you not see the evil here. If all schools, made videos of kids who break rules and post them on the internet, what kind of world would we be living in? Are you people mad?!

I grew up in Lagos, I use the term 'mad' a lot. No vex

The Teacher should be sent for Medical Check before dismissal without pay and the pay be used to pay for the phone.

Next time learn to air your opinion after reasoning. Rules are made by each school and should your child break it, she must bear the fallout of it. Feel free to train her at home or get a private tutor for her, Mr Know All.

This is wickedness, why not just seize the phone and invite the parent for questioning.

The teacher deserves to pay for it if I'm related to the student.

This would serve as a deterrent to others. Where there’s no law, there’s no sin.

I know some people here would not like this because they have high tolerance for indiscipline and general bad behaviour which I suspect it’s as a result of their terrible upbringing.

When we cultivate the habit of taking responsibility for our action and possible consequences (which should also be enforced), we will have a better society.

Khaleell001:

oga, as much as I dislike undiscipline punitive measures should be commensurate with any violation.
There's no man or woman with a modicum of rationality that will applaud this sort of high handedness.
With is wrong with seizing the phone instead of destroying it?
This is why God keep punishing us because we support all sort of injustice in our society.
Little wonder, people like you support the burning alive of a thief who stole something less than five thousand naira, but will readily show sympathy to a public office holder who stole billions of naira with his pen.

This kind of action can never be justified anywhere under the sun.

You do not have the faintest idea about who I am yet you've assumed and gone ahead to describe what I would do in two different situations. Are you for real? Well I've got news for you, assumption is life's lowest level of knowledge.

seanwilliam:
so assuming I bought iphone 11 pro max 512 gig for her, the teacher would still do the same

Assumption is life's lowest level of knowledge. Nothing to discuss about there.

The law says don't bring phones to school.

If the teacher had seized the phones, some people will definitely call them criminals.

Good , in fact the teachers should flog those students

When I was serving, I caught my students watching blue films on there phone , the girls will be behind the toilet on phone calls with their boyfriends.

Lol if na my relation. Just forget. There's no justification for this action, even if the student is watching porn in class.

Isn't it more reasonable to seize the phone and keep it till whenever? Asking that child to destroy that phone reeks of personal vendetta.

Even if you catch my children watching porns on their phone, you dare not tell them to destroy it. You can beat the hell out of them, but do not destroy any of their property or else, we go get problem o

For what Some of these teachers just vent their frustrations on innocent kids

For just 135k you could get a 1kva Inverter, 100AH rugged deep cycle battery, 150w panel and a 30A controller + installation. The system would serve 10hrs daily on basic loadings. Call on us now!

The school has no right to destroy the phones and even film the entire process.. To make matters worse they asked one student to do the task..
Useless school, useless rules, useless governance

We were asked to do worse then.

I remember the times the contraband that was seized from us were shared to different teachers in our presence.

And the idiot even wore my shoe.

Thank God the video quality that year was that of express music which teachers didn't even possess.
