Recently, I changed my cell phone. I got rid of my BlackBerry Bold 2 (9700) and upgraded to the Bold 4 (9780). I can't say I'm impressed with RIM as they were very minimal changes. Besides the new operating system (OS6) which I was already running on the 9700, it's got a 5MP camera compared to the 3.2 on the Bold 2 and more application/processing memory. It really feels like I haven't changed phones using it as all my 9700 accessories still work and it feels the same in my hands, lol. Unless you want to run an official version of OS6, you might as well just use one of the many leaks on your 9700 and await something better from RIM.

I can't fathom why you wasted your money on that 'upgrade'. Someone as tech savvy as yourself should have been aware of the merely cosmetic changes RIM has been making to their phones. Don't you read reviews?
OS6 is merely lipstick on a pig. BBs are good phones but crappy smartphones.

I was aware of the little changes that were implemented in the 9700 -  9780 upgrade but still decided to go for the upgrade for a couple of reasons:
I tested OS6 for a few weeks when the first .344 leak was released & couldn’t imagine going back to OS5, I was way too addicted to the OS. I had no choice but to continue running the leak which was unstable, it ran okay for the most parts but had some pretty annoying sluggish moments here & there, the ‘Pages too large to load’ errors, memory leaks and BBM avatars, not to mention the periodic crash when using the universal search. I got the 9780 ‘cos I had some spare cash & really wanted to run the official OS6 version and fast.
Now I’m content that I don’t experience any of those issues and the software feels like it was designed for the device, not being squeezed into the device like it felt on the 9700.

However, if you’re not as desperate as me, I’ll suggest you hold out until RIM pushes out a substantial upgrade or until a carrier drops the official OS6 for the 9700. Official OS6 for the Bold 3 (9650) was released today, I expect a 9700 release to follow shortly after.
