Youtube is not a socialist system. It is there to make money and have rules and regulation. Those infinging on copy rights via uploading unauthorised video are breaking regulations and rules, so youtube is doing the right thing by removing them.

So David Beckham, YaYa Toure, Bill Gates etc are one of the most highest earners in their profession, I suppose because of this, let us not pay to watch them play or Pirate every copy of Windows 7 that we can find?

By the way, what do you do? undecided

Hows youtube going to make money from having less nollywod materials on their site?

As a matter of fact, the present arrangement of having private individuals upload those videos is the best for youtube. The problem here is IrokoPartners or whatever they call themselves. They are trying to corner the industry, and I bet it with you, it is going to be an EPIC FAIL. The industry is not as lucrative as they think it is!

WTF. *****Breathe Deep**** WTF

What a load of self-justification.

Do you have a single proof to all of your wild claims? There was never an "industry" in Nigeria when it came to movie making. You had Pioneers like Pa Ogunde, Babasala, Ray Eyiwunmi and co but there was never a SET STANDARD or Standard of Practice.
You claimed, they did nothing, but became something. Surely, ain't that what capitalism and "Nigeira dream" is about? Are you kidding me? Jesus freaking wept.

So the movies is not to your taste as you will want us to believe, but you will rather try and watch it for free? You contradicted yourself and just talking for the sake of it.

They do not deserve the lifestyle they enjoy, looking at the quality and content of the crap they produce. It is sheer wickedness on their part to go after those youtube uploaders. The people watching it are  not going to buy it in the first place. i watch it whenever I am homesick and feel like hearing some Yoruba, not necessarily because I love it. What they should do is that they should  prevent it from been bradcasted/watchable in Nigeria, and allow the rest rest of the world, especillay the Nigerians in the west, have access to it. A little bit of public service , thats what we are asking for.

If they do not deserve their lifestyle, is it a fair assessment that you do not deserve to be allowed near a computer with internet access ever?

Dude, your post is coming across as jealousy and envy to be honest.

You seem to come across like it is your damn right to watch movies for free simply because it is Nigerian movie. Don't be daft please. This folks owes you nothing and their stuff should not be watched for free if it is their blood and sweat.

What a joke. Please tell me you are joking?  shocked

You really are a joke. Youtube makes enough money, so removing individuals who upload pirated or unauthorised naija movies will not make a dent in their profits.

If IrokoPartners are reported to have the backing of those who represent the actors/actresses/producer in Naija, why cant the individual wanting to upload such movies go and get the same permission? Simple common sense.

You keep making personal opinions as fact. Please refrain from doing that. undecided

Well capitalism thrives on people's woes, fears, and anxiety. There is nothing like the Nigerian dream, BTW. The movie industry in Nigeria is the biggest scam ever. I guess in your opinion, the politicians in Abuja deserve the money they make, and by extending your ludicrous argument to include other spheres of the Nigerian society, is it safe to assume that those people involved in 'yahoo yahoo' deserve the money they make as well; after all, they ( yahoo yahoo and politicians like Omisore and Tinubu) are doing nothing, but are making something
In my line of work, the average person invests at least 250000  dolls into their education, in the hope that it will pay big when they finish schooling. It is only in Nigeria, especially, in the movie industry, that people put in nothing, and reap big overnight.

So the movies is not to your taste as you will want us to believe, but you will rather try and watch it for free? You contradicted yourself and just talking for the sake of it.

Yes, to while away time. I'd rather watch, most times I just listen while I do other things on my computer, than say listen to music. I dont think the quality is worth my money and time really. I have not contradicted myself.

They are able to make it as easily as they have done because the government isnt doing her job
There are no certifications required, no tax collected from them. No well staffed oversight body to regulate their activities, and the quality of the crap they produce. Simply put, they have exploited the system badly, and by so doing, they have denied their fellow citizens, yours truly included, services we would otherwise have enjoyed.

Again, I have to breathe deep and ask you WTF are you talking about?   My point was Youtube is there to make money and in order to protect their own interest, they have to remove people who infringe on the copy rights of others, or you tube may face a legal suit.  Do you not understand this?

So in order to justify your need to watch movies for free, you are now talking about things that are totally unrelated? Dude, please stick to the point at hand. Which is, free movies at the expense of the makers is wrong.

Yes, to while away time. I'd rather watch, most times I just listen while I do other things on my computer, than say listen to music. I dont think the quality is worth my money and time really. I have not contradicted myself.

Do you even know what contradiction means?   If you asserted that the movies are crap, why do you watch them? Surely, you will have the simple decency of ignoring it? Are you kidding me again?

Please read in between the lines, if you work hard to buy your stuff, then those who work hard to make movies can dictate whether their movies can be shown for free or not.  As it stand, they appear to fight piracy, but you have have a problem with this. Jesus, man!

I dont do movies. Why should i be jealous of those riff-raffs?

You claim you aint jealous of them, yet your post stinks of envy, jealous and "wish I am living it large like them". I mean, why will you make reference to their life style?

No, i am not joking. i am damn serious

You are deluded if you feel a fellow citizen who happens to be a movie maker or actor owes you something. It is a very ridiculous thing to say.

As per the rest of your post, they are not the system, they are merely surviving in the same system 130million people are living in too.

You cannot be serious, because there is no ounce of seriousness in your post.

PS
By "Nigerian Dream" I am talking about the Nigeria's version of the American Dream, where one comes from nothing to become something.

SMH.

Exactly!

there this bizarre idea among the younger generation that downloading pirated stuff is not stealing because it is from 'rich and greedy corporations'

most older warez users have acknowledged that it is wrong but they do it because they can get away with it

none of this fluffy headed ranting against capitalists

iroko, Microsoft movie studios etc have a right to protect their revenue streams within boundaries defined by the law, just like

i tend to see anti capitalist rants as the whining of omega characters who know they can never make it anywhere in a competitive world and so want some sort of leveld world where people with ambition go nowhere

no loser left behind grin

Everyone and anyone has a right to whatever he/she makes in a free market where trade is governed by laws of demands and supply, the fact that you are a physics graduate roaming the street does not mean people who have chosen to invest their skills into other trades should starve!

you talk about Public Service?. . now that's definitely a daft thing to say, when was the last time you worked for free or did something for charity?

If truly they produce crap and the market is always right, isn't it suffice to say folks that get really paid are quality actors/actress that deserve every bit of reward gained on their invested talent and capital? . . and why do people like you scream blood simply because Youtube brought down loads of crap from its domain?

Don't mind Iroko Partners or whatever they called themselves, they are the same people as NollywoodLove on youtube. I got an email from them telling me that they aimed to be the "only" channel on youtube that will be uploading nollywood movies, They claimed copyright on my videos while I was away on Christmas break and I got banned but I have already posted a counter claim and hopefully they can reopen my channel,

Meanwhile you guys can watch oldschool movies at http://www.victolastores.co.uk/ just go on the video link when you get there.

Iroko partners is London-based, here is a copy of the message they put on my profile before they got my account banned:

IrokoPartnersLtd has posted a comment on your profile:

We are close to achieving our goal in that, we have managed to shut down most channels posting Nigerian movies on Youtube without Youtube validating our copyright documents. Soon we would be the number one, unopposed channel posting Nigerian Movies. People say it isnt possible. We are getting recognition and also getting paid legal fees from the producers/directors. Call it undemocratic, uncivilised, monopolistic or whatever, we would achieve our aim of being the best and everyone will continue to praise and acknowledge us. Soon we will be able to sell movies to them and get hold of their Visa Debit Cards and Credit Card to abuse. Thats our ultimate goal - Good job.
