I dont think that guy receieved upto 7 shots. They may have used a cut to size barrel on him which will leave the bullets scarttared and seven bullets parts from 7 different holes will make one assume he was shot 7 times. could the robbers have been shooting him from his waste down? I feel for him sha cos to receieve a bullet, no matter how small is not easy.
