Re: Which Is The Best Internet Connection In Nigeria? by 04kaa: 11:31am On Jan 28, 2011
starcomms usually times out when idle. doesnt pass 40kilobyte for me
MTN does not connect at night .cuz of people that uses free calls .
i got around 38kb dl speed
nigerian providers are all thrash, when i was in london i got up to 4 megabyte download speed

make una dey give reasons as well as actual download speed with evidences .  i will be watching this thread.
Re: Which Is The Best Internet Connection In Nigeria? by scopusng(m): 11:42am On Jan 28, 2011
Starcomms is the best, I have been using Starcomms since 1998. Starcomms 3G network is the highest.
Re: Which Is The Best Internet Connection In Nigeria? by Blazing99: 11:44am On Jan 28, 2011
These are the three I recommend

Cobranet - Super fast internet speed, reliable never dissapoints you at any time. The only problem with them is that they charge per bandwidth usage. If you download alot, Cobranet is sure not the best for you cos you'd have to pay more

Multilinks - Very fast, pretty reliable and unlimited bandwidth. They are not as fast as Cobranet but a bit faster and more reliable that starcomms

Starcomms - Very fast with unlimited bandwidth. Actually it is what I am using now. I would rate it far above average

Using GSM networks, they are okay but not as fast as CDMA networks or fulltime ISPs like Cobranet or DirectonPC. they also charge per bandwidth which is quite distressing to me.

Re: Which Is The Best Internet Connection In Nigeria? by mount1ng(m): 11:47am On Jan 28, 2011
None is good. Except you have your own vsat. They are introducing newer hardwares(3.5G; 4G) but no good services. The claim broadband but they are giving us thin band. We have to protect these abnormalities. They collect our money for services not provided for. Since they all joined MAIN-ONE, Why has the services not better. And Glo, just noise; MTN, Money Transfer Network to South Africa.
We Nigerian must stand up and stop all these OPT. God bless Nigeria.
Re: Which Is The Best Internet Connection In Nigeria? by JUO(m): 11:49am On Jan 28, 2011
my dear there is no ISP in nigeria
Re: Which Is The Best Internet Connection In Nigeria? by Chuksxp: 11:53am On Jan 28, 2011
I'm in Enugu, and MTN 3.5G is the fastest I've seen. Here my MTN 3.5G downloads at 120kbps - 250kbps

In Lagos, I think the fastest is GLO. That's if you're in areas such as Victoria Island. But I believe the fastest in Lagos overall should be MTN, GLO and Starcomms.
Re: Which Is The Best Internet Connection In Nigeria? by confetti(f): 11:55am On Jan 28, 2011
We use IPNX. Has been at least 78% reliable. Download speed is very fast except for some periods of congestion which is rare.

If you are in PHC, Lagos, Abuja, Calabar, Aba or Kano, make enquiries about MTN HyConnect which is DSL internet connection - it's very reliable and far better and less expensive than VSAT. MTN is also rolling our HyNet - WiMAX Internet services in Warri, Lagos, Ilorin. These services are pretty reliable and cost effective.
Re: Which Is The Best Internet Connection In Nigeria? by twinskenny(m): 12:12pm On Jan 28, 2011
all of them are the same thing, IPNX is good in my office, battling with glo edge at home, in my area we dont even have mtn gprs talkless of 3g

Bros this services you are talking about is for the rich,  i heard hyconnect is above 15k per month,  how many people can afford that?

MTN and GLO are quite slow in my area at Amuwo/Festac axis.
Has anyone tried the new SWIFT 4G broadband by SWIFT Networks? Saw a flyer recently saying that their USB modem is now N6,500 and data plans have been reduced too.
Re: Which Is The Best Internet Connection In Nigeria? by yaris(m): 12:23pm On Jan 28, 2011
they are too expensive. here in Cotonou, u can get a 3g modem with speed like mtn fastlink for a monthly plan of 9166.66cfa (not more than 3k Nigerian Naira). unlimited access. no download limit.

NOW ALLOW ME TO EDUCATE YOU ALL.

I AM PRESENTLY USING ZOOMMOBILE INTERNET MODEM (CURITEL PC CARD). AND I ASSURE YOU THAT IT IS THE FASTEST IN NIGERIA AND THE CHEAPEST.

1. IT COMES WITH FLEXIBLE RECHARGE PLANS LIKE PER HOUR PLAN, PER MONTH PLAN, PER 2WEEKLY PLAN, ETC. IT COMES WITH ADJUSTIBLE SPEEDS (YOU CAN ADJUST YOUR BROWSING SPEED FROM THE VALUES OF 128KBPS TO 1MB PER SECOND). ALSO YOU DO NOT BUY THE NUMBER OF KILOBYTES OR MEGABYTES(UNLIKE THOSE MTN THIEVES), SO THEREFORE YOU CAN DOWNLOAD ANYTHING AT ANYTIME WITH YOUR ADJUSTABLE SPEEDS.
(NOW THIS IS A SECRET THAT I WANT TO SHARE AND I HOPE YOU ALL UTILIZE THIS. EVERY MONTH, I BUY 5000NAIRA (6000MINS) PLAN FOR A WHOLE MONTH. I BROWSE, DOWNLOAD, AND DO ALL KINDS OF THINGS ON A DAILY BASIS. AND GUESS WHAT, AT THE END OF 30AYS, I STILL HAVE ABOUT 4000MINUTES LEFT; WHICH MEANS I HARDLY USE ABOUT 1000MINUTES PER MONTH. I DUNNO IF ITS A NETWORK ERROR BUT IM ENJOYING MYSELF. A FRIEND OF MINE WHO SUBSCRIBED SINCE NOVEMBER WITH 10000NAIRA (12000MINUTES FOR 3 MONTHS) IS STILL ENJOYING BROWSING TILL NOW). I HAVE INITIATED A LOT OF PEOPLE INTO THIS ZOOMMOBILE NETWORK AND THEY ARE TRULY HAPPY WITH ME). IF YOU ARE GOING TO BUY THE MODEM, MAKE SURE THAT YOU BUY PAY-AS-YOU-BROWSE PER MINUTE PACKAGE COS IT PAYS MORE.

ENJOY!!

choosing the best internet provider in Naija today depends on location. In some areas MTN 3g is the best while Zain & Glo with Etisalat takes the lead in different areas.
I've never use starcom but i use multilinks often and i can boldly say it's not realiable. Though the speed is averagely ok but you can't depend on them. Among the GSM providers, in my location Etisalat is very ok, zain & mtn sucks big time.

I cant say which is the best but I can assure you that swiftnetworks offers very crappy service. Their customer care is also absolutely useless. Stay away from em.

I can attest to that! Swift is the fastest shit I have ever seen! I downloaded a 2.5gb game in around 4 hours! it's fast on the Island and mainland.

WELL, MY OFFICE IS CLOSE TO THEIR BASE STATION, WHILE MY HOUSE IS MILES AWAY FROM THEIR BASE STATION. BUT EITHER WAY, ITS STILL RELIABLE, FAST AND AFFORDABLE. THEY EVEN HAVE 10HRS PLAN WHICH LASTS FOR ALMOST 3 WEEKS WHICH IS JUST 2000NAIRA AND IT IS UNLIMITED.

THANKS ZOOMOBILE. I CAN NOW DOWNLOAD ALL THE ROCK VIDEOS I WAS ONLY ABLE TO LISTEN TO ONLINE AND ALL THE MOVIES I HAV ALWAYS WNTED TO WATCH,
