Premier League And Carling Cup Weekend Score Predictions! by CapstoneSP(m): 5:54pm On Feb 25, 2011
With the race for the Premier League title, Champions League spot and relegation battle boiling up nicely, the team at Capstone Sport thought we might indulge in a bit of results prediction. If you agree or disagree with our predictions, then we would like to here from you.

Aston Villa V Blackburn

A win for Aston Villa this weekend would take them above their opponents Blackburn in the League. Villa have had a nice two week break so they will feel fresh and rejuvenated for this home match. Blackburn have also had a similar amount of time off, but their away record is poor at the moment. They have lost six matches out of a possible seven on the road so the stats are in Villa’s favour. Watch out for Darren Bent!

Capstone Sport Prediction: 2-1

Newcastle V Bolton

Owen Coyle’s Bolton have suffered on the road recently, losing six games in a row and only achieving one win in twelve away games. Newcastle on the other hand have mastered five points in the last three games, two of which were away from home and the other, well, we all remember the other game! Their ultimate comeback against Arsenal has shown that Newcastle will not give up without a fight. We think Newcastle have this in the bag.

Capstone Sport Prediction: 1-0

Everton V Sunderland

Everton’s win against Chelsea in the FA Cup will instil plenty of confidence in the squad, but they must not let it get to their heads! This will be a tough encounter and is our favourite for a red card this weekend, both sides will attack and neither will be willing to back down. Look out for Leighton Baines and Jordan Henderson flying the flag for England and causing trouble on the attack for both sides! Sunderland do not have a great record at Goodison Park but Bruce will be looking to avenge the Tottenham loss.

Capstone Sport Prediction: 2-1

West Ham V Liverpool

Liverpool really have turned it around, they are now eight games unbeaten in all competitions and come into this game on the back of a mid-week win in the Europa Cup. We all know who is responsible for this turn around but this game will be a real test for Kenny Dalglish and his side. If they are to continue nipping at Chelsea and Spurs heels then they must keep stringing results together. West Ham are scrapping to stay in the league but are more than capable of turning over Liverpool, Parker showed he was a true leader after picking the side up in their last tie. This will be a close one….

Capstone Sport Prediction: 0-0

Wigan V Manchester United

Manchester United have some tough games coming up and we believe Alex Ferguson will not risk too many of his first choice players in this match up. With away games at Liverpool and Chelsea looming in the not too distant future it would seem fitting that Ferguson rested his better players. However this is purely an assumption. Berbatov scored some fantastic goals against Wigan back in his Tottenham days so we are expecting some Bulgarian fireworks. Wigan have lost the last 11 games against United, one of the worst records in the league, so our sportsman’s bet is firmly on a United win.

Capstone Sport Prediction: 0-4

Man City V Fulham

Tottenham had the opportunity to go above Man City in the week but squandered the chance. Mancini will be looking to get a foothold over Chelsea and Tottenham with a home win this weekend, almost guaranteeing they will finish in the top 4 come the end of the season. City have a lot of injury worries to deal with but Dzeko and Tevez are certainly starting to look a handful playing together. Fulham will be confident that they can park the bus but Hughes may have other plans in mind as he returns to his old club. Another tough one to call but a City win is likely…

Capstone Sport Prediction: 3-1

Wolves V Blackpool

Blackpool wonder boy Charlie Adam is suspended for this match so it will be interesting to see how Ian Holloway deals without his creative master. Wolves are the only side to beat Manchester United this season and have acquired lots of points from the big sides. Now Blackpool are not a big side but they’re not a small side either! This one will go down to the bone, expect a real fight between two medium sized underdogs and a high scoring one at that!

Capstone Sport Prediction: 4-2

THE BIG FINAL – Arsenal V Birmingham!

Arsenal felt the full pelt of Stoke’s wrath the other day. Stoke certainly went in hard and took no prisoners. In the 1-0 win Arsenal lost Walcott and Fabregas to the sword, the latter coming out with a slightly less serious injury. Nonetheless they have lost two key men that have fought tooth and nail to help the Gunners reach this great end point. Robin Van Persie will captain the side and Nasri will take on a commanding midfield role in the absence of Cesc. Arsenal will undoubtedly be confident going into this game, they have just beaten the world’s best side and Birmingham may seem a million miles off the pace. However, Alex McLeish is no fool! He will go into the game with all guns blazing; especially now he has Zigic scoring freely week in week out. He will however be without Curtis Davies, David Bentley and Colin Doyle who are all cup tied. The return of Alexander Hleb is a possibility but he could be a doubt with a bruised knee (we say give it a rub and get on that pitch!?).

Reports suggest Birmingham fans are taking flairs with them to Wembley on Sunday. The same ones they wore the last time they were in a final there! Joking aside, this is going to be a great day for Birmingham and Arsenal fans, a trip to Wembley awaits!

Capstone Sport Prediction: 1-0 Arsenal
