Osun students jubilate as Aregbesola slashes fees

Students of the four tertiary institutions owned by Osun State broke into jubilation on Monday as the state government announced the slashing of their tuition fees.


The fees for Osun State Colleges of Education in Ila-Orangun and Ilesa were reduced from N28,000 to N20,000 while students of Osun Polytechnic, Iree and Osun State College of Technology, Esa-Oke, would now pay N25,000 instead of N42,000.


Osun State Governor, Mr. Rauf Aregbesola, announced the reduction in school fees when he led the Action Congress of Nigeria on a campaign to Ila-Orangun.


Several youths, who attended the rally, burst into jubilation and sang the praises of the state government.


A statement by the Director of Publicity, Osun ACN, Mr. Sunday Akere, said the governor announced the reduction in fees in order to alleviate financial burden on parents and guardians.

Only members of PDP will only have this mindset highlighted. Politically motivated and the Gov last week provided jobs for 20 thousand youth after graduation through a scheme. The mumu Gov that served that state for close to 8years has not got any initiative to do anything. In south west here where we have PDP as Governors, no single one has gotten any initiative. Look @ Daniel and Agagu, two drunkards. Go and check Ondo now. At a point I keep asking one question, Have they ran out ideas in PDP?

Lets not forget that the PDP always runs wasteful and over-bloated Government (obviously to aid corruption) that can be 'streamlined' for better efficiency and reduction of waste so money is made available for deliverance of greater value.  Oshiomhole hints at that below. Aregbe may simply be saving money elsewhere . We don't know the detailed macroeconomics of Osun State but we know that it  is not difficult , as a sincere person committed to serving the electorate, to deliver greater value than crooks who use every opportunity to steal.

The real jubilation/disappointment wud come after the elections . . .till then,taking it with a pinch of salt.

What were they jubilating about? Governor slashes fees and they are happy. what is the state of facilities in those schools? Should they not be more concerned about the facilities. Our students do not want to pay for education but they all have money to buy blackberry phones! I pity all of them. when they graduate, the labour market will slash them! A word is enough for the wise.

ACN, you guys have vision and also feel the pains of the Nigerian. God bless you guys as you embark upon the forthcoming elections. My votes will always go to Action Congress. May PDP burn for all i care.
