A man in America has gone on a shooting rampage after he discovered that a $99 (61p) deal on a burrito had increased by 50 cents (31p), police have confirmed. Skip related content
Related photos / videos Man goes on shooting spree over burrito price rise Enlarge photo The drama unfolded on Sunday at the Taco Bell/KFC drive-through in San Antonio, Texas, as Ricardo Jones was told that the promotion on the Beefy Crunch Burrito had ended.

According to restaurant manager Brian Tillerson, the 37-year-old ordered seven burritos at $1.49 (92p) each, when he flew into a fit of rage, pulled out an air gun and fired shots at an employee.

San Antonio Police Department said that they later tracked down the enraged man as he ordered food at a nearby Burger King.

The violent customer fled the burger chain in a black Mitsubishi while police officers chased him.

Speaking with Yahoo! UK News today, San Antonio Police Department spokesman Sgt Chris Benavides said: "Two of our officers conducted a traffic stop, he jumped out with an air assault rifle and shot at them. Then, they returned fire."

San Antonio Express-News reports that the man smashed the windscreen of their car with bullets, missing officers.

SWAT teams then scaled the roofs surrounding the Rodeway Inn in a three hour standoff while he barricaded himself inside a motel room.

He was eventually forced out the room using tear gas and surrendered to police.

No one was hurt in the shootout but Jones now faces three charges of attempted capital murder.

This is not the first episode of food rage to strike Taco Bell. In 2009, a man pulled into a Miami drive-through after closing time. When he was told it had closed, he waited for staff to leave the restaurant and fired at them with his gun. One worker was shot in the leg.
