As the name implies, it is colourless, odourless and tasteless.

Atimes they put in periwinkles with the shell and you have to suck it out, it tastes bitter and ghastly.

There is anoda soup, ekpan kpupo , too much stress to cook all on account of eba!

I usually dont eat garri but was forced to eat it when i was serving in calaber. The edikaikong made the difference.Didn't try afang and white soup. Never eaten a very good edikaikong since i left calabar. Like it but vould it be overated?Maybe.

How can this stand? How can anyone dare to type such words? Do you want to be struck down by the goddess of Calabar cuisine? Do you not know that from state to state it is undisputed knowledge that Calabar women hold the title for the highest prowess displayed in the kitchen and bedroom. There are hundreds of hearts that have been won from tasting the delicious regimen of Calabar cooking. Marriages have been made and broken because of Calabar food. Such culinary renown is not unconnected to the fact that the women from that region are naturally equipped to see to the thorough satisfaction of their diners. . . in fact were one to delve into details of personal tales of delight of such  culinary (and post culinary) experiences, there might be an up shoot of blood pressure from readers here.

White soup is Calabar soup. We call it Afia efere and it's very delicious especially when prepared with goat meat and dry fish.

Calabar foods are not over-hyped. Edikaiking is great. I also love ekpan kpupo.

hi u probably ate frm someone who didn't get d dishes rit, now apart frm dat our ladies no more cook and dont know how to cook,, wot our grand mothers taught or wud av taught probably fell on deaf ears,, so we can cook,, white soup shld not av perewinkles in it, but shld av those native seasonings to bring out the proper aroma and also native thickners,, we av lots of soups and must not be eaten wif eba,, u cud do yam, plantain,, rice, etc,,come down to cali and u will b treated rit wif d real scented leaves frm our farms or gardens, and ekpang nku nkwo is not difficult its fun 4 any real calabar woman,

i just stumbled across this thread and got the shock of my life. to me it is total blasphemy to cast aspersions on calabar culinary skills.

the only reason why i am still enjoying my stay in the north is that i was able to discover a joint ran by a calabar woman who cooks up a storm with dishes varying from afang soup, Edi-kang ikong, vegetable soup with all the swallows available ranging from fufu, gari, wheat, semo etc. a gourmet's delight.

I am from Uyo, that was once part of cross river state, so we are all regarded as 'calabar people' Yeah, our culinary reputation in Nigeria holds no bounds compared with other tribes. But I have tried several or so meals from other tribes, so I cant say which tribe makes the best meals, but our people are reknowned when it comes to cooking.
